South (Monmouth and Ocean)

(9) Jackson Memorial 2, (8) Marlboro 1 (OT)

Junior Steve Bado scored the golden goal in the 88th minute and the Jaguars (6-6-1) topped the Mustangs (2-9-1) for their sixth straight win, earning a trip to play top-seeded Toms River North on Tuesday.

Bado ran down a ball on the right side and crossed it to the near post. Senior Bugra Celik got there too late to finish the goal but in time enough to draw out goalkeeper Nick Tango and prevent the Marlboro junior from securing the ball. The rebound went right back to Bado, who slammed the ball into the exposed net for the winner.

Jackson Memorial jumped on top with a goal by freshman Peyton Collimore in the 43rd minute. Senior Zack Rogacki passed Collimore the ball and the freshman chipped the ball over Tango and in for the game's first goal.

Marlboro came back six minutes later with an equalizer from Griffen Wolfe off a pass from senior Eric Tsirkin.

 

Group III

South (Monmouth and Ocean)

(5) Brick 4, (12) Lakewood 1

Senior Sean Palmer scored the first goal and assisted the first of two goals by classmate Zack Meyer as the Green Dragons (8-7) rolled past the Piners (2-5-3) to end a four-game skid and advance to the sectional quarterfinals Tuesday against No. 13 Freehold Boro.

Eli Chong scored the second Brick goal by settling a long free kick by sophomore Jayson Nardone and knocking it into the left side netting for a 2-0 first-half lead. Meyer finished off a cross from Palmer to make it 3-0 and capped the scoring in the 78th.

(13) Freehold Boro 2, (4) Jackson Liberty 1

Senior Chris Casale and junior Tharnthong Phua scored goals nine minutes apart in the first half and the Colonials (2-11-1) held on to top the Lions (5-5) and advance to the sectional quarterfinals Tuesday at Brick.

Casale headed in a cross from junior Silverio Ortiz in the 16th minute and Phua knocked in a cross from sophomore Colin Wozniak in the 25th.

Sophomore Gerard Cerino scored the lone Jackson Liberty goal off a pass from Gio Bautista.

(11) Toms River East 2, (6) Allentown 1

Senior Mike Conklin created two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half and the Raiders (6-7-1) rallied to beat the Redbirds (7-3-1) to earn a trip to the sectional quarterfinals Tuesday at No. 3 Lacey.

Conklin's long throw early in the half touched an Allentown player before bouncing into the goal for the equalizer. In the 50th, junior Noah Raimonde headed in another throw-in by Conklin to vault Toms River East into the lead for good.

(10) Neptune 3, (7) Ocean 1

Senior Marvin Muñoz Garcia assisted the go-ahead goal by Nate Kerr in the 58th minute, then capped the scoring in the 71st to extend his six-game scoring streak as the Scarlet Fliers (8-7) knocked off the Spartans (6-5-2) to reach Tuesday's sectional quarterfinal at No. 2 Pinelands.

Neptune jumped on top with a goal by Ernst Louisius in the sixth minute before Ocean answered in the 17th on a goal by senior Matt Bixby after junior Andres Tovio Pabon headed Aidan Tisony's throw-in right to Bixby's feet on the far right post.

Neptune finally broke the tie in the 58th, with Muñoz Garcia serving a free kick to the far right corner of the six-yard box, where Kerr elevated for the game-winning header.

(8) Toms River South 4, (9) Red Bank 3 (OT)

Sophomore Jon Fitzgerald blasted the golden goal from the top of the 18-yard box off an attempted clearance of a long throw-in during the 89th minute and the Indians (7-8) pulled out a wild win over the Bucs (4-7).

Toms River South advances to the sectional quarterfinals Tuesday to face top-seeded Wall.

Junior Chris Higham scored the equalizer for Toms River South in the 77th minute, sending the game into overtime by finishing off a pass from senior Campbell Challoner.

Toms River South jumped on top with two goals in the first two minutes. Junior Danny Londov assisted a goal by Eddie Candia in the first minute, then converted a penalty kick in the sixth minute to stake the Indians to a 2-0 lead.

Red Bank answered with three straight goals, with senior Matteo Balderas scoring two of them. Balderas got the Bucs on the board in the 21st minute off an assist from junior Berand McLaughlin and scored the go-ahead goal in the 47th minute. Senior John Venino tied the game in the 43rd with a penalty kick.

 

Groups II and I (combined)

South (Monmouth and Ocean)

(9) Monmouth 4, (8) Manasquan 1

Senior Bryan Leonard recorded a hat trick and the Falcons (7-7-1) stomped the Warriors (5-7-1) for their seventh straight win, earning a trip to the sectional quarterfinal to face top-seeded Holmdel.

Junior Ryan Kuldanek assisted two of Leonard's goals and scored the other Monmouth goal on a penalty kick to make the score 2-0 in the 35th minute.

Sophomore Mike Flanagan cut the Monmouth lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 58th, but Leonard came right back, striking a shot off the keeper and in off a pass from junior Ethan Wallace.

(5) New Egypt 3, (12) Henry Hudson 1

Lucas Sample scored two goals and the Warriors (7-5) pulled out a win over the Admirals (3-9) after the teams hit the intermission tied, 1-1. New Egypt will travel to play No. 4 Point Beach in the sectional quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Junior Elvis Gonzalez scored Henry Hudson's goal in the first half.

(6) Manchester 2, (11) Shore 0

Juniors Logan Duffy and Brandon Sogness each scored a goal in the second half and the Hawks (7-5-2) blanked the Blue Devils (4-11) to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Tuesday at No. 3 Asbury Park.

Duffy opened the scoring off a pass from classmate Vincent Paolillo and Sogness capped it with an assist from senior Trevor Juralewicz.

Non-Public

(7) Timothy Christian 4, (10) Mater Dei Prep 3

(9) St. John Vianney 6, (8) Wardlaw-Hartridge 0

Junior Johnny Troiano went off for four goals and assisted on one of two goals by sophomore Danny Herndon as the Lancers (3-9-2) routed the Rams (1-5) to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Tuesday at No. 1 CBA.

 

Regular Season

Class A South

No. 2 Toms River North 3, No. 8 Southern 3

Senior Kevin Kiernan scored two more goals to add to his Shore Conference lead (22) and senior Ryan Leavitt scored the equalizer in the 65th minute as the Rams (12-1-1, 12-1-1) clinched a share of first place in Class A South for the first time since 1989.

Senior Brandon Notte assisted two goals for Southern - the first goal by Kiernan and the winner by Leavitt.

Toms River North (12-1-1, 12-1-1) entered the week leading Southern by one game in the standings and settled for a first-place tie - the Mariners' highest finish in the Class A South standings since winning the division outright in 2013.

Senior Parker Nickelsen scored two go-ahead goals and assisted the other score to lead Toms River North. The first one was on a penalty kick in the first half and the second came off a feed from junior A.J. Emnace to put the Mariners ahead, 3-2.

Nickelsen assisted a goal by junior Mattia Assante that tied the game at 1-1.

 

Non-Conference

Asbury Park 1, Donovan Catholic 0

Junior Davenson JoinVilmar scored the game-winner in the second half and the Blue Bishops (8-4) tuned up for the NJSIAA Tournament with a win over the Griffins (2-7-3).

 

Friday, Nov. 13

Class B North

St. John Vianney 1, Freehold Boro 1

Senior David Cardenas scored the equalizer in the 70th minute and St. John Vianney (2-9-2, 2-9-2) rallied to tie Freehold Boro (1-11-1, 1-11-1).

Freehold Boro opened the scoring in the 53rd on a goal by senior Dylan Manabat off a set-up from junior Silverio Ortiz and junior Owen Gelber turned in a standout performance in goal to give the Colonials a chance to pull the game out and ultimately end a 10-game losing streak.

St. John Vianney finally broke through on Gelber in the 70th, with Troiano beating a defender up the right wing, cutting inside, and sliding a pass to Cardenas, who made the run from his outside back position and finished from around the penalty spot.
