Class A North

No. 4 CBA 66, Howell 54

Junior Josh Cohen scored 20 points and the Colts (9-3, 7-0) close out the Rebels (7-4, 3-4), snapping Howell's seven-game winning.

Junior Liam Kennedy added 16 points and junior Stephen Braunstein chipped in 14 for CBA, which has won six in a row.

Seniors Nasiem Brantley and Brandon Wilson each scored 14 points to lead Howell, with Brantley also plucking 11 rebounds.

Manalapan 41, Freehold Boro 34

Senior Alex Purzynski scored 13 points to lead the Braves (5-9, 2-6) past the Colonials (2-11, 0-8) for the second time this season while also snapping a seven-game losing streak.

Senior Brian Broderick added 10 points and sophomore Ryan Knorr chipped in nine for Manalapan.

Junior Lucas Bruckmann led Freehold Boro with 10 points.

No. 5 Neptune 58, Freehold Twp. 43

Freshman Sam Fagan scored a game-high 20 points and the Scarlet Fliers (10-4, 7-1) opened up a close game at halftime with a dominant second half to down the Patriots (5-8, 3-6).

Senior Kobe Blake scored all 13 of his points in the second half and also pulled in 10 rebounds, while senior Jared Kimbrough also contributed 13 points and nine boards for Neptune. Senior Scott Fields also approached a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds in the win.

Junior Greg Billups scored 13 points to lead Freehold Township, which trailed by two at halftime.

No. 6 Colts Neck 52, Marlboro 51

Senior Sabour Quddus hit a 10-footer along the baseline as time expired the the Cougars (11-2, 6-2) won a wild game against the Mustangs (7-7, 4-5) at the buzzer.

Senior Ben Bosland cut the Marlboro lead to one with basket as he was fouled inside of a minute, but missed the potential game-tying free throw.

After Marlboro junior Dylan Kaufman missed the front end of a 1-and-1, Bosland drove to the basket and missed the initial attempt. Senior Dan Gaines then missed a shot and Quddus skied for the rebound and put up the winning shot as time expired.

Bosland finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Gaines scored all 10 of his points in the first half to go with six boards and four assists, while senior Robby Hill scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the first half and posted seven rebounds as well.

Colts Neck took a 17-point lead into the halftime locker room, but Marlboro stormed ahead in the third by outscoring Colts Neck, 22-2. Sophomore Alex Ratner led the way with nine of his game-high 17 points in the third. Kaufman also added 10 points in the loss.

 

Class A Central

Holmdel 59, Raritan 44

Sophomore Derek Chan scored a game-high 20 points and the Hornets (8-5, 4-4) beat the Rockets (6-7, 3-5) for their fourth straight win. Senior Tim Zhou added 12 points for Holmdel.

St. John Vianney 77, Red Bank 64

Senior Zach Moran buried seven three-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points to lead the Lancers (7-10, 4-4) past the Bucs (1-13, 0-7).

Sophomore Matt Weidman scored 16 points to lead Red Bank, which dropped its ninth straight.

No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 56, No. 8 Matawan 34

Senior Elijah McAllister threw up a triple-double with 10 points, 17 rebounds and 11 blocks to key a dominant defensive effort that led the Bulldogs (10-1, 6-0) past the Huskies (11-3, 5-2) for their seventh straight win.

Junior Jackson McCarthy led Rumson with 16 points, while senior Teddy Sourlis and junior Ian O'Connor added 11 points apiece.

Senior Mike Dunne led Matawan with nine points.

 

Class A South

No. 9 Toms River North 63, Southern 39

Senior Travis Holland scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Mariners (13-2, 8-0) past the Rams (8-7, 5-4) for their 40th consecutive win in Class A South play.

Senior Holden Petrick scored nine points while senior Elliot Daks, junior Nick Duncsak and sophomore Najae Hallenback all added eight apiece.

Junior Vinnie Deck and senior Thomas Foster each scored 11 points to lead Southern and junior Joe Infurna added 10 in the loss.

Brick 52, Toms River South 38

Junior Jalen Jackson scored 19 points and junior Shane Williams and senior Dan Venezia added 15 each as the Green Dragons (10-3, 7-2) topped the Indians (2-11, 1-8).

Jackson added four steals, while Venezia contributed 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals for Brick. Williams also pulled in 11 rebounds in the win.

Sophomore Rob Marro led Toms River South with 14 points.

 

Class B North

Middletown South 72, Wall 64

Senior Ryan Purcell scored all of his game-high 32 points in the first three quarters and the Eagles (9-5, 6-2) rolled past the Crimson Knights (6-8, 3-6) for their fourth straight win.

Senior Dave Gervase added 16 points for Middletown South.

Senior Steve Geis led Wall with 25 points and senior Andy Lenneper threw in 18 in the loss.

Ocean 52, Long Branch 32

Senior Andrew Seager scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Spartans (9-7, 5-4) past the Green Wave (5-8, 3-5), securing Ocean's first season sweep of Long Branch since 2001, according to coach John Terlecsky.

Sophomore Jack Miller added 18 points and senior Brian Laustsen controlled the glass with 10 rebounds for Ocean.

Junior Marc Dennis led Long Branch with 10 points.

Middletown North 73, Monmouth 64

Junior Rob Higgins poured in 28 points and handed out seven assists to lead the Lions (6-7, 4-4) past the Falcons (1-12, 0-9).

Senior Sky Cherry added 15 points and eight rebounds for Middletown North, while senior Dave Campbell chipped in 13 points in the win.

Senior Dayshawn Porter led Monmouth with 24 points. Junior Kerron Holley added 19 and senior Ryan Cronin poured in 16 in the loss.

No. 10 Red Bank Catholic 57, No. 7 Manasquan 53

Junior Stephen Lubischer drove for the game-winning layup with two seconds left and the Caseys (11-4, 6-3) pulled out a road win over the Warriors (11-2, 7-1), handing Manasquan is its second straight loss and first divisional loss after its 11-0 start to the season.

Manasquan rallied to tie the game on a three-pointer by senior Emilio Stevenson with under a minute to go.

RBC rode a balanced offense Tuesday, led by 12 points by senior Matt Ansell and 11 from classmate John Kelly.  Sophomore Charlie Gordinier and junior Matt Conley poured in nine points each and Lubischer finished with eight points.

Junior Brad McCabe led Manasquan with 18 points while Stevenson finished with nine.

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 59, Keansburg 36

Senior Danny Frauenheim led a trio of Point Beach players in double-figures with 15 points and the Garnet Gulls (9-6, 6-3) pulled away to beat the Titans (4-9, 2-7).

Senior Trevor Covey added 14 points and senior Mohamed Traore poured in 13 for Point Beach.

Senior Danny Vital led Keansburg with a game-high 18 points, while senior Paul Eckleberry added 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 87, Asbury Park 46

All five Mater Dei starters posted double-figure scoring and the Seraphs (13-2, 9-1) cruised to a win over the Blue Bishops (7-7, 4-5).

Sophomore Jamir Watkins and senior Kyle Cardaci each scored 17 points to lead the way, while senior Kenny Jones posted 16 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals for Mater Dei. Watkins also had seven rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Cardaci pitched in six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Junior Alexander Rice netted 15 points and senior Yasin Pretlow poured in 13 in the win.
