Middletown North 73, Howell 50

Senior Ian Wyckoff scored 18 points and the Lions rolled to a win over the Rebels. Sophomore Colin Frawley added 13 points and senior Brian Esser had 10 in the win.

Junior Aaron Trimble led Howell with a game-high 21 points.

No. 2 CBA 66, Manalapan 55

Senior Louie Pillari led four CBA players in double-figures with 16 points and the Colts topped the Braves to remain unbeaten in Class A North. Senior Rob Kennedy and sophomore Pat Andree each added 11 points and senior Chima Ekekeugbor chipped in 10 points for CBA.

Manalapan also had four players in double-figures, led by senior Joey Pisciotti's 14 points. Junior Zach Misischia poured in 13 points, while senior Matt Colella and sophomore Scott Scherer each added 10.

Freehold Twp. 56, Marlboro 52

Junior Jason Czajkowski scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Patriots back from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Mustangs. Czajkowski hit a game-tying three and later a jumper to give Freehold Township a 52-51 lead with 1:30 left.

Senior Jordan McGill scored 10 points and sealed the game with a steal and a free throw to put Freehold Township ahead 56-52. Junior Dan Saunders also contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in the win.

Junior Matt Ringel led Marlboro with 16 points while fellow junior George Elghoul poured in 15. Senior Justin Markowitz also pitched in 13 points for the Mustangs.

Colts Neck 60, Middletown South 58

 

Class A Central

Holmdel 60, Raritan 39

Senior Gerard Nocera scored 22 points and junior Jeff Harris poured in 21 to lead the Hornets past the Rockets for their fifth straight win.

St. John Vianney 56, Monmouth 46

Junior John Michael Broderick scored 16 points and the Lancers beat the Falcons to sweep the season series. Senior Vinny Fachino added 11 point in the win.

Shore 59, Rumson-Fair Haven 40

Junior Jack Byrne scored a game-high 21 points and the Blue Devils avenged an opening-night loss to the Bulldogs by beating their rivals at home. Junior Dan Largey added 15 points for Shore, while junior Kevin Bloodgood chipped in 11.

Senior Jack Herrmann led Rumson with 12 points and junior Thomas Famulary had 10 in the loss.

 

Class A South

Lacey 39, No. 10 Southern 38

Junior Chris Iapicco scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help the Lions upset the No. 10 Rams, who were without senior standout Mike Gesicki. According to Southern coach Eric Fierro, Gesicki suffered a leg injury against St. Augustine on Saturday and is considered day-to-day.

 

Class B North

Freehold at Neptune, 5:15 p.m.

No. 4 Long Branch 55, Ocean 38

Senior Terrel Cox scored 21 points and the Green Wave won its fourth straight by topping the Spartans for the second time this season. Senior Myson Pennington added 12 points and 12 rebounds for Long Branch, while junior Taj Shomo led Ocean with 13 points.

No. 3 Matawan 64, No. 7 Red Bank 50

Senior Chris Tawiah scored 23 points and the Huskies turned around a nine-point deficit late in the second quarter to roll past the Bucs for their 10th straight win.

Junior Joe Piscopo added 14 points, including a 75-foot shot off the glass to end the first half. Tawiah then scored eight straight points for the Huskies in the first 1:30 of the third to put Matawan on top for good.

Junior Anthony Mitchell led Red Bank with 15 points.

 

Non-Division

Jackson Liberty 59, Brick 49

Senior James Sofield scored 27 points and became the first player in the history of the Jackson Liberty program to reach 1,000 points for his career as the Lions beat the Green Dragons.

 

Non-Conference

Keyport 95, METS Charter 46

Senior Alex Thomson scored his 1,000th career point on a first-half dunk and finished with 40 points and 12 rebounds in an easy win for the Red Raiders.

Pinelands 70, New Egypt 42

Sophomore Luke Stambaugh scored 19 points and senior D.J. Kidd added 11 to lead the Wildcats to a win over the Warriors.
