(3) Sayreville 65, (6) Jackson Memorial 57

The Bombers back-court duo of Rob Seraji and Corey Taite combined for 11 3-pointers and 48 points and Sayreville overcame a 12-point third quarter deficit to beat the Jaguars. Jackson Memorial senior Eric Carter scored a team-high 16 points, which left him with 998 points to finish his high school career.

Jackson Memorial trailed 27-17 with 2:26 left in the first half, but went on a 24-2 run over the next 8:50 of the game to take a 41-29 lead. Sayreville chipped away by riding its two guards, who hit seven threes in the last nine minutes of the game.

Jesse Hill added 14 points for Jackson Memorial. Taite finished with a game-high 27 points and Seraji had 21 for Sayreville.

 

Central Jersey Group II

(4) Spotswood 78, (5) Manchester 66

Senior KaShaun Barnes matched a career-high with 32 points but the Chargers held serve at home and beat the Hawks to advance to Saturday's sectional semifinals at No. 1 Matawan. Spotswood senior Jake Dadika scored a game-high 39 points in the win.

Sophomores Jordan Torney and Shavar Reynolds each chipped in 13 points in the loss.

(6) Willingboro 57, (3) Manasquan 55

Sophomore Ryan Jensen scored 16 points to go with eight boards to lead the Warriors, but Manasquan fell to the Chimeras. Senior Jack Fay had 14 points, five rebounds and six assists while senior Tommy Toole also poured in 14 in defeat. Willingboro will host No. 10 Rumson-Fair Haven in Saturday's sectional semifinal.

(10) Rumson-Fair Haven 72, (2) Lakewood 54

Three Rumson players scored at least 21 points and the Bulldogs rolled to an upset win over the No. 2 Piners. Senior Jack Herrmann led Rumson with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Thomas Famulary had 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Sophomore Brendan Barry also scored 21 points for Rumson, which took a 21-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.

The Bulldogs will travel to No. 6 Willingboro Saturday in the Central Group II semifinals.

(1) Matawan 58, (9) Carteret 45

Senior Jason Dunne scored 23 points and the Huskies outscored the Ramblers 33-14 over the second and third quarters to pull away. Matawan will host No. 4 Spotswood Saturday in the Central Jersey Group II semifinals.

Senior Dritan Gyjriqi added eight points and 14 rebounds for Matawan.

 

South Jersey Group IV

(7) Southern 57, (2) Atlantic City 56

Junior Jake Logue rebounded a missed free throw, drove the length of the court and made a lay-up as time expired to give the Rams a thrilling, last-second victory over the two-time defending Group IV champions. Southern lost to Atlantic City, 61-56, in the same round last season.

Senior Mike Gesicki scored 20 points to become the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,852 points, passing 1975 graduate Robby Hall (1,851). Gesicki fouled out with seven seconds left in the game to put Atlantic City on the free-throw line with the game tied at 55.

Senior Logan Sheehan also poured in 16 points for the Rams, who will travel to No. 6 Cherokee on Saturday for the South Jersey Group IV semifinals.
