Boys Basketball – Official Jersey Shore Playoff Pods and Schedule
The 2021 basketball season at the Jersey Shore will conclude with a Shore Conference postseason that will include 42 of the Shore Conference's 47 teams and begin play on Monday. The field has been seeded, Nos. 1 through 42, by a committee of Shore Conference coaches and organized down into six "pods" - four of which will consist of eight teams playing a three-round tournament during the duration of next week, including consolation rounds.
The top eight seeds have been placed in the top pod, which is is loosely dubbed the "Championship Pod" that will play a three-round tournament to crown an unofficial Shore Conference champion for 2021. The next three pods will follow the same format and the final two pods - one with six teams and the other with four - feature a predetermined schedule rather than a tournament format and were organized by region.
Should a team be forced to withdraw from the tournament, they will not be replaced by a team from a lower pod. Instead, that team's next opponent will receive a bye into the next round.
The tournament will operate every other day (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), with the better seed hosting each game (or agreeing on a neutral site). Pod champions are scheduled to be crowned on Friday, March 5.
