Southern 61, Toms River South 27 - Watch

Senior Jake Barbierri and junior Jaden Anthony each scored 12 points and the Rams (5-1) rode a balanced offense and suffocating defense to a win over the Indians (3-5).

Barbierri scored 10 of his points in the first half and senior Luke Infurna scored eight of his nine before the break, at which point Southern led, 37-17. Junior Nolan Schubiger and senior Ryan Dale each added seven points in the win.

Senior Neil Kwincinski led Toms River South with seven points.

No. 4 Marlboro 87, Manalapan 73 - Watch

Junior Jack Seidler scored 28 points and classmate Jon Spatola added 17 to lead the Mustangs (3-3) past the Braves (1-3).

Junior Zach Molod added 15 points, junior Jay Ratner poured in nine and senior Nick Malucelli chipped in eight for Marlboro.

Senior Chris Frontera matched Seidler with a game-high 28 points - including 22 in the second half - to lead Manalapan while junior Mike Bimonte pumped in 24 points in the loss. Senior Anthony Mezzina netted 10 points for Manalapan as well.

Jackson Liberty 59, Pinelands 53 (OT) - Watch

Junior Dallas Weisse led four Jackson Liberty players in double-figures with 19 points and the Lions (3-4) survived a fourth-quarter comeback by the Wildcats (2-6).

Junior Phanique Dupree added 13 points, including the game's final five points on a three-point play and dunk after Pinelands had cut the Jackson Liberty lead to 54-53. Senior Dubem Emenuga added 12 points and senior Jayden Ramirez chipped in 11 in the win.

Senior Josh Kline scored a game-high 23 points to lead Pinelands, which closed regulation on an 18-8 run over the final seven minutes. Kline hit the game-tying three-pointer with 14 seconds left in regulation - one of his five three-pointers in the game.

Central 60, Howell 58 - Watch

Junior Justin Soranno scored off a feed from senior Kwesi Bekoe with five seconds left and the Golden Eagles (6-2) pulled out a thrilling overtime win over the Rebels (5-3).

Soranno finished with with 23 points, eight rebounds and five blocks. Senior I-Meer Johnson added 18 points,15 rebounds and scored the go-ahead basket to make it 57-55 with just under a minute to go in overtime.

Junior Joe Dupuis tied the game for Howell on a three-pointer with 16 seconds left after sophomore John Truhan made one of two free throws to extend the Central lead to three.

Truhan sent the game to overtime by coming up with a steal and knocking down one of two free throws with 17 seconds left to tie the game at 53-53. Central's sophomore point guard finished with 10 points.

Junior Zach Emery led Howell with 22 points, including a three-pointer that gave the Rebels a 53-50 lead with under two minutes to go. Dupuis and sophomore Damien Padilla chipped in 10 each and junior Nick Gallo finished with nine in the loss.

Toms River North 53, Toms River East 31 - Watch

Senior Jake Kazanowsky posted 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists and classmate Brandon Bowens went for 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Mariners (6-2) to a win over the Raiders (1-6).

Senior Wesley Deitch also scored 10 points in the Toms River North win.

Senior Dylan Hall led Toms River East with 10 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.

 

Non-Division

Freehold Twp. 49, Red Bank 46 - Watch

Senior Joe Lardaro scored 11 of his game-high 16 points in the second half and also pulled in 11 rebounds to lead the Patriots (4-2) to a hard-fought win over the Bucs (0-4) on the road.

Senior Jayce Schapiro added 11 points and three steals while sophomore Jayden Holmes-Cotter pitched in nine points and 10 rebounds for Freehold Township, which struggle from the free-throw line for most of the game, but hit five of its last six to make the difference.

Junior Patrick Murray led Red Bank with 10 points and was just off the mark on a long three-point attempt as time expired that would have tied the game had it been on target. Senior Nick Ferrogine and senior Matt Keegan each added nine in the loss.

Lacey 66, Monmouth 55 - Watch

Sophomore Carson Howard posted 23 points and 10 rebounds and classmate Troy Buxton added 21 points and five assists to help the Lions (1-3) beat the Falcons (2-2) for their first win of the season.

Sophomore Chris Venturoso chipped in 17 points and seven rebounds and senior Jacob Bowles netted 10 for Lacey.

 

Non-Conference

No. 1 Manasquan 68, Montclair Immaculate 65 - Watch

Sophomore Ben Roy scored the last five points of the game - including three free throws with 1.6 seconds left - and the Warriors pulled out a high-level win over the Lions with the aide of a controversial call in the final two seconds.

Roy hit a game-tying floater with 15 seconds left and Manasquan got a stop on the defensive end to earn one last shot to go the length of the floor for the winning score in 1.6 seconds.

Senior Jack Collins surveyed the floor and before he could put the ball in play, senior Jayden Brown was whistled for a foul for holding Roy. Before Roy could get to the free-throw line, Montclair Immaculate coach Jimmy Salmon was hit with a technical foul, giving Roy an extra two free throws. The junior guard hit three of four and Manasquan inbounded the ball to end the game.

Roy finished with a game-high 26 points and Collins added 18 to lead Manasquan. Senior Zakai Zeigler led Montclair Immaculate with 24 points.
