Boys Basketball Friday Scoreboard, 2/3/17
Class A South
Brick 56, Toms River South 55
Sophomore Shane Williams scored 18 points, grabbed eight boards and added three assists and three steals to help the Green Dragons (13-5, 7-4) edge the Indians (5-11, 4-7) for their sixth straight win.
Senior Anthony DeStafano added 16 points and senior Noah Buono chipped in 14 for Brick. Senior Brandon Williams also handed out 10 assists in the win.
Senior Jason Porter led Toms River South with a game-high 20 points.
No. 9 Central 62, Jackson Memorial 58
Senior Denis Corbin scored a career-high 28 points to go with 14 rebounds and the Golden Eagles (16-3, 9-2) pulled out a win over the Jaguars (8-8, 5-6) to keep their hopes of a Class A South division title alive. Senior Maks Gruszecki added 14 points and senior senior Zion Hardy chipped in 11 points and five assists.
Seniors Andrew Trent and Ryan Lucas each scored 13 points to lead Jackson Memorial.
Class B Central
No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 87, Henry Hudson 34
Senior Elijah Barnes led four players in double-figure scoring with 19 points and the Seraphs (15-3, 10-1) handled the Admirals (1-17, 1-10).
Senior Elijah Mitchell and junior Kyle Cardaci each added 12 points and junior Kenny Jones poured in 11 for Mater Dei. Mitchell also filled up the box score with 10 rebounds, four assists and six steals.
Senior Tom Fennell led Henry Hudson with nine points.
Point Beach 58, Keansburg 37
Junior Josh Yates poured in 15 points and the Garnet Gulls (13-7, 9-3) blew open a one-point game at halftime to pick up a win over the Titans (7-10, 4-9). Keansburg trailed Point Beach 21-20 at halftime before the Gulls stretched the lead to 40-30 by the end of the third quarter.
Junior Chris Pina added 13 points and junior Danny Frauenheim chipped in 12 for Point Beach. Senior Quentin Godfrey led Keansburg with a game-high 16 points.
Class B South
Manchester 57, Barnegat 43
Senior L.J. Robinson scored 25 points, including the 1,000th of his high school career, to lead the Hawks (7-11, 5-7) to a win over the Bengals (13-6, 7-4). Robinson also pitched in seven rebounds and four assists for Manchester.
Robinson entered the game needing 11 points to hit the 1,000-point milestone and blew past it with ease after being held below his scoring average in Manchester's last two losses - which came against South Brunswick and Lakewood.
Freshman Jakari Spence also contributed seven points, nine assists and three steals while senior Zion Murunga blocked five shots in the win.
Junior Carson Francisco led Barnegat with 16 points and junior Mike Revello added nine in the loss.
No. 10 Point Boro 58, Pinelands 45
Junior John Duda scored 20 points and the Panthers (13-4, 9-2) fought off the Wildcats (2-18, 1-11) to keep pace with Lakewood in the race for the Class B South title.
Senior John Venturi added 16 points and junior Connor Costigan poured in 12 for Point Boro.
Sophomore Anthony Diaz led Pinelands with a game-high 24 points.
Donovan Catholic 52, Lacey 50
Junior Anthony Silvestrone scored 16 points and the Griffins (10-8, 9-3) escaped with a win over the Lions (4-12, 3-8) to keep their hopes of a B South title alive. Senior Jared Small and junior Joe San Fillippo added 11 points each for Donovan Catholic.
Lakewood 64, Jackson Liberty 32
Senior Adi Palmer scored 17 points to go with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Piners (12-7, 9-2) routed the Lions (4-14, 3-9). Junior Dorian Vaughn also chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds for Lakewood.
Non-Division
Long Branch 46, Red Bank 44
Sophomore Marc Dennis scored a game-high 17 points, including a tough layup with 5.5 seconds left to break a 44-44 tie and give the Green Wave (11-7) a hard-fought road win over the Bucs (7-10).
Red Bank erased a seven-point deficit heading into the third quarter to pull even with Long Branch before Dennis's heroics in the final seconds.
Junior Tyree Morris also scored 16 points for Long Branch, while senior Nasir Williams led Red Bank with 12 points.

Southern 60, Winslow 56
Senior Mark Valeriani scored 23 points and junior Jake DuBois added 20 as the Rams (6-14) beat the Eagles (7-10) to give coach Eric Fierro his 100th career win.
Valeriani also four rebounds, three assists and four steals, while junior Thomas Foster chipped in seven points and 11 rebounds for Southern.
