Class A South

Central 54, Jackson Memorial 43

Senior Tom Ruscitti put up 20 points and 12 rebounds and the Golden Eagles (7-13, 4-8) took down the Jaguars (3-16, 2-10).

Junior Darius Martorano added 18 points for Central, while senior Chris Mitchell led Jackson Memorial with 12 points.

No. 8 Toms River North 57, Brick Memorial 42

Sophomore Najae Hallenback scored 13 points and grabbed 12 boards as the Mariners (17-3, 12-0) beat the Mustangs (10-8, 8-4) to clinch the outright Class A South championship for the fourth straight season and fifth time in five years.

Junior Nick Duncsak added 11 points for Toms River North, which has now won 44 consecutive games in Class A South play.

Junior Nick Manso led Brick Memorial with 12 points.

Brick 58, Toms River South 46

Junior Shane Williams scored 18 points to go with 12 rebounds and four assists as the Green Dragons (12-4, 8-3) topped the Indians (2-15, 1-11). Junior Jalen Jackson also pitched in 13 points and seven assists for Brick.

Senior David Wilson led Toms River South with 13 points and sophomore Jalen Folsom added 12 in the loss.

 

Class B North

Middletown North 80, Middletown South 76

Junior Rob Higgins went off for 37 points, eight rebounds and six assists and the Lions (8-9, 6-5) outlasted the rival Eagles (10-8, 7-4) in a virtual must-win game for the North-side squad.

Senior Dave Campbell added 18 points and seven rebounds while classmate Sky Cherry posted 12 points and eight boards for Middletown North, which outscored Middletown South 26-11 in the third quarter to erase a nine-point halftime deficit.

Seniors Ryan Purcelll and Nick Unrath led Middletown South with 19 points each and senior Dave Gervase returned from a two-game absence (illness) to score 13 points in the loss.

 

Class B Central

No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 92, Henry Hudson 22

Senior Kyle Cardaci led six Mater Dei players in double-figure scoring with 19 points and the Seraphs (16-2, 10-1) handled the Admirals (2-14, 1-10), scoring 89 points in the first three quarters.

Senior Kenny Jones added 17 points, four rebounds and seven assists while junior Alexander Rice pitched in 13 points, seven assists and four steals. Senior Adam Afifi and sophomore Jamir Watkins each poured in 11 points and senior Yasin Pretlow rounded out the balanced attack with 10.

Junior Jay Anthony led Henry Hudson with 11 points.

Point Beach 55, Keansburg 32

Senior Trevor Covey scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds on Senior Night and the Garnet Gulls (13-6, 9-3) shook off a first-half challenge from the Titans (5-13, 3-10) to win their sixth straight.

Senior Danny Frauenheim added 13 points and seven assists for Point Beach, which trailed Keansburg by a point at halftime before outscoring the Titans 33-9 in the second half.

No. 1 Ranney 88, Asbury Park 30

Junior Scottie Lewis returned from a two-week absence to score 21 points and the Panthers (16-4, 11-0) rolled to a win over the Blue Bishops (8-10, 5-7). Lewis sprained his ankle in a win over Point Beach on Jan. 18 and missed five games.

Senior Sanior Akuwovo added 18 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks while junior Ahmadu Sarnor came up just shy of a triple-double with eight points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for Ranney.

 

Class B South

Lakewood 46, Jackson Liberty 35

Senior Kevin Dent scored 17 points to lead the Piners (11-8, 9-3) to a road win over the Lions (7-11, 3-9). Senior Jyheir Jones added 13 points and sophomore Ryan Savoy put up six points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots for Lakewood.

Barnegat 59, Manchester 38

Senior Carson Francisco scored 18 of his 24 points in the first half and the surging Bengals (13-5, 7-4) hammered the Hawks (1-15, 1-10) for their fifth straight win and 12th in their last 14 games.

Senior Mike Revello chipped in 14 points and senior Alex Grogan also threw in 10 for Barnegat.

Senior Jesse Devero led Manchester with 17 points.

Point Boro 48, Pinelands 39

Senior Connor Costigan scored a game-high 16 points and the Panthers (13-3, 10-1) fought off the Wildcats (10-8, 7-4).

Senior John Chipak contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds while senior John Duda pitched in nine points, 11 rebounds and six blocks for Point Boro. Senior Connor Strickland also chipped in six points, five assists and three steals in the win.

Sophomore Ryan Skeie led Pinelands with 14 points while junior Andrew Schulz added 10 in the loss.

Donovan Catholic 55, Lacey 53

Senior Anthony Silvestrone scored 22 points and junior Phil Mylod posted 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks to lead the Griffins (8-9, 6-6) to a nail-biting win over the Lions (5-12, 3-9), the second such game the two teams have played this season.

Lacey won the first meeting between the teams in Lacey after sophomore Jordan Cohen hit a game-tying three-pointer in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime.

Junior Carl Swensen scored a game-high 23 points to lead Lacey.

At Atlantic City High School

Winslow 54, Southern 43

Senior Thomas Foster turned in 13 points and 10 rebounds and senior Jake DuBois returned to the lineup with 12 points, but the Rams (9-9) fell to the Eagles (5-13).

DuBois had been out since late December with an ankle injury. In his only other game, he scored 24 points in a Atlantic Tech in Southern's opener.
