Boys Basketball – 2017-18 All-Shore Final Vote Winners
The Shore Sports Network readers have spoken and a pair of Ocean County standouts from the Shore Conference Class B South are the final two 2017-18 Boys Basketball All-Shore honorees by way of the SSN Final Vote. B South did not have a representative on the three All-Shore teams, but the readers made up for the slight over the four-day voting period.
Without further ado, let's meet the winners of the All-Shore Final Vote.
Carl Swensen, Jr., Guard, Lacey
It's hard to argue anyone in the Shore Conference had more of a breakout season that did Swensen, who went from a third option as a sophomore to one of only five players in the conference to average more than 20 points per game. Swensen posted 20.9 points per night over 25 games and will enter next season within striking difference of the 1,000-point plateau if he has a season that just approaches the one he just had. He also proved to be a fan favorite, winning the first SSN Player of the Week honor of the season before book-ending his season with an honorary All-Shore spot.
John Duda, Sr., Forward, Point Pleasant Boro
The Class B South Player of the Year according to both the coaches and Shore Sports Network, Duda was an all-around force for the Class B South co-champions as both a player and a leader. The 6-foo-4 forward posted a complete stat-line of 12.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, three assists, 1.7 steals and 2.5 blocks per game. He finished in the top 10 in rebounding and in the top five in the conference in blocked shots on a per-game basis within the Shore Conference for the senior-heavy Panthers.
