Thrive Week 2 Boys Soccer Player of the Week

Sean Moore, Colts Neck

Despite the fact that he is only a freshman, Sean Moore entered the season with his Colts Neck team expecting him to be -- along with his older brother, Kyle -- one of the top two scorers on a team that was coming off a Shore Conference Class B North division championship and with expectations to again compete for that and other titles.

Sean Moore went scoreless in his high-school debut and since that opening-day zero, he has been a goal-scoring machine for a top 10 team in the Shore Conference.

A week after older brother Kyle was the Class B North Player of the Week with seven goals in two games, Sean Moore is overall Thrive Week 2 Player of the Week thanks to a scoring barrage that rivaled the one his older brother unleashed.

The freshman forward scored in a 2-1 loss to Steinert to open the second full week of the season, then exploded for four goals and an assist in a 7-0 Colts Neck win over Freehold Boro.

Since that five-goal week, Sean Moore scored six goals over the next three games to run his total scoring on the season to 12 goals and three assists. Sean and Kyle Moore have combined for 24 of Colts Neck's 37 goals as the Cougars are off to a 6-1 start.

Sean Moore won the Week 2 Player of the Week with 29.3 percent of the vote to beat out runner-up Dylan Gonzalez of Henry Hudson (22.8). Middletown North's Josiah Stepney (16.3) and Raritan's Stefan Cojocariu (14.7) also reached double-figure percentages in this week's voting.

As the latest Thrive Player of the Week, Moore will receive a shirt and free training session courtesy of Thrive.
