Jackson Memorial started last week ranked No. 10 in the Shore 16, went 4-0 last week, and has won five straight games to earn Week 3 Surf Taco Girls Soccer Team of the Week award of the 2023 season. The Jaguars team receives a $250 Gift Card from Surf Taco for the accomplishment.

On top of winning five straight, Jackson Memorial has not allowed a goal in any of those games. The Jaguars opened the week defeating Donovan Catholic in a Shore Conference Group 3 game, 7-0. Later in the week, they clinched first place in Group 3, defeating Monmouth Regional, 1-0. Transfer Chelsea Lavezzo scored the game-winner in her first game for Jackson Memorial. Wednesday, the Jaguars defeated Toms River East in a Class A South matchup, 1-0.

Saturday they traveled to Hillsborough to play in The Mountains vs. The Sea Showcase and defeated Watchung Hills, 1-0. Watchung Hills, which was ranked in the top 20 in the state by NJ Advance Media earlier in the season, might have been the Jaguars' best win so far this season. Senior Renee Wanzor scored the game winner midway through the second half.

Wanzor scored five goals in the week and had four assists. Jackson Memorial’s defense has made it difficult for opposing teams to have good shots on junior goalkeeper Gianna Berkley, who has five shutouts on the season.
