Berry rolled up a career-high 213 yards rushing and two touchdowns to help Toms River South win its first state playoff game in 10 years and advance to the South Jersey Group IV semifinals with a 35-21 win over seventh-seeded Moorestown.

Anthony Gargiulo, Sr., RB, Colts Neck

Gargiulo ran for a career-high 275 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries in a 35-14 win over Neptune that put Colts Neck into the Central Jersey Group IV semifinals. In the process, he went over the 3,000-yard mark for his career to become Colts Neck's all-time leading rusher, and also tied the single-season school record with 21 touchdowns. He has 1,382 yards rushing for the season.

Mitchell, the Seraphs' free safety, had 12 tackles, including several booming shots, and was in on a huge tackle on fourth down at the 1-yard line inside the final two minutes to seal Mater Dei Prep's 12-7 win over Morristown-Beard in Non-Public Group I for the Seraphs' first playoff victory since 1999.

Diawara (#15, above) led a stellar defensive effort in a 20-12 win on the road at third-seeded Delran for the Piners' first state playoff victory since 1986. He had 8 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in the victory.

 

Special teams

(tie) Jared Calhoun, So., K, Jackson Memorial; Mike Caggiano, Jr., K, Manalapan;

Jake Monteiro, Jr., K, Shore 

Calhoun made his second game-winning field goal in two weeks, nailing a 28-yard kick with 50 seconds left in the game to give the Jaguars a 24-21 win over Rancocas Valley in South Jersey Group V for their first playoff win since 2006. A week earlier, he hit the field goal that was the difference in a 9-7 win over Brick for the Class A South title.

Caggiano, who is 49-for-49 on extra points this season, hit the game-winning extra point with no time left on the clock in a 14-13 win over Brick Memorial in Central Jersey Group V.

Monteiro, who has not missed an extra point and is 7-for-8 on field goals this season, kicked a 22-yard field goal that proved to be huge in a 10-7 win over Palmyra in Central Jersey Group I.

Honorable mention

Dylan Murphy, So., KR, Red Bank Catholic

Murphy returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown in a 42-14 win over Immaculata in Non-Public Group III.

Divisional Players of the Week

Class A North

Offense

Donald Glenn, Fr., QB, Middletown North; Jeremy Concepcion, Sr., RB, Middletown South; Dan Anerella, Jr., QB, Manalapan 

Glenn was outstanding as the Lions nearly upset second-seeded Nottingham in a 35-33 loss in Central Jersey Group IV. He went 19-for-34 for 233 yards and four touchdowns and kept battling despite throwing four interceptions and losing standout tailback Chad Freshnock to an injury in the first quarter.

Concepcion also had a big night in a losing effort, rushing for 162 yards and two touchdowns on 35 carries in a 52-45 loss to Burlington Township in Central Jersey Group IV.

Anerella's stats weren't huge as he went 12-for-20 for 109 yards, but he made one clutch throw after another in the fourth quarter to lead two scoring drives in crunch time in a 14-13 comeback win over Brick Memorial in Central Jersey Group V.

Defense

Nick Volpe, Sr., LB/DE, Colts Neck

Volpe had 12 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 other tackles for a loss in Colts Neck's 35-14 win over Neptune in Central Jersey Group IV.

Class A Central

Offense

Joe Murphy, Sr., RB, Manasquan; Larry Redaelli, Sr., RB, Red Bank Catholic

Murphy exploded for a career-high 228 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 29-7 win over Wall in South Jersey Group III.

Redaelli continued his monster season with 166 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Immaculata in Non-Public Group III. He leads the Shore with 25 touchdowns on the season.

Defense

Shawn McCord, Sr., DE, Red Bank Catholic; Kieran Preston, Sr., DB, Manasquan

McCord had 9 tackles, 3 sacks, 3 quarterback pressures and a tackle for a loss to lead RBC's defense in the 42-14 win over Immaculata.

Preston had 6 tackles and 2 interceptions in Manasquan's win over Wall.

Class A South

Offense

Khani Glover, Sr., RB, Jackson Memorial; Ray Fattaruso, Jr., RB, Brick

Glover ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-21 victory over Rancocas Valley in South Jersey Group V, going over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season in the process.

Fattaruso ran for three touchdowns in Brick's 35-26 win over West Windsor North in Central Jersey Group IV for its first playoff win since 2000.

Defense

Kyle Johnson, So., DB, Jackson Memorial; Darrius Hart, Sr., DB, Toms River South

Johnson had two of Jackson Memorial's five interceptions in a 24-21 win over Rancocas Valley.

Hart returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown to cap the Indians' 35-21 win over Moorestown in South Jersey Group IV.

Class B North

Offense

Tyler Thompson, So., RB, Ocean

Thompson had 215 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 35-14 win over Warren Hills in Central Jersey Group III to continue his outstanding season.

Defense

Dan Loizos, Sr., LB, Ocean

Loizos racked up 22 tackles and had two forced fumbles in Ocean's win over Warren Hills to continue his stellar senior season.

Class B Central

Offense

Robert Barksdale, Sr., QB, Asbury Park

Barksdale threw four touchdown passes to key a 42-7 rout of South River in Central Jersey Group I.

Defense

Luke Maas, Sr., LB, Point Beach 

Maas led a strong defensive effort in the second half by the Garnet Gulls that limited Florence to zero first downs and 30 yards of total offense in a 21-7 comeback win over the defending Central Jersey Group I champions.

Class B South

Offense

Tyler McGuinness, Jr., RB; Cinjun Erskine, Jr., QB, Barnegat; Chappelle Cook, Jr., RB, Lakewood

McGuinness ran for a career-high 223 yards on 24 carries, and Erskine ran for 95 yards and two scores and also threw for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 41-13 win over Pemberton in South Jersey Group III that set a school record for wins (8) by the Bengals.

Cook ran for 114 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds in a 20-12 win over Delran in Central Jersey Group II for the Piners' first playoff win since 1986.

Defense

Tom Kampo, Sr., DL, Barnegat

Kampo had 3 tackles for a loss, a sack and a 14-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Bengals' 41-13 win over Pemberton.
