Offense

Dahmiere Willis, Sr., RB, Long Branch

Wills continued his monster season by running for a career-high and school-record 370 yards and four touchdowns in Long Branch’s 40-28 victory over Matawan for its sixth straight victory. Willis has gained at least 200 yards in six straight games, and leads the Shore Conference with 1,800 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns in seven games.

 

Defense

Doug Zockoll, Sr., DE, Red Bank Catholic

The Caseys shut down a Manalapan offense that was averaging over 40 points per game in a 35-7 nondivisional victory that cemented their status as the No. 1 team in the Shore. Zockoll led a swarming defense with four of Red Bank Catholic’s eight sacks, while also recovering a fumble and notching three quarterback pressures to go along with seven tackles. Zockoll leads the conference with 11 sacks.

 

Special Teams

Matt Mosquera, Jr., K/QB, Middletown South

The Middletown South junior kicked a game-winning 22-yard field goal with 1.8 seconds left in regulation to lift the Eagles to a 24-21 victory over Brick Memorial in which they scored 10 points in the final two minutes. It was his sixth field goal of the season, which is tops in the Shore. Also the team’s quarterback, Mosquera threw for 267 yards and a touchdown to help the Eagles improve to 5-2.

 

 

Divisional Players of the Week

Class A North

Offense

Josh Dixon, Sr., RB, Freehold

Dixon ran for 239 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-7 victory over Toms River East as the Colonials remained undefeated at 7-0. He has 1,171 yards and 16 touchdowns this season.

Also deserving mention: Tom Coffey, Jr., WR, Middletown South.

Defense

James McCarthy, So, LB, Middletown South

McCarthy’s strip sack and fumble recovery in the fourth quarter with the Eagles trailing Brick Memorial 21-14 kept Middletown South in the game, and his 3-yard touchdown run with 1:48 left in the game tied the score at 21.

Also deserving mention: Ashante Worthy, Fr., DB, Freehold.

 

Class A Central

Offense

Charlie Volker, Sr., RB, Rumson-Fair Haven

Volker exploded for a career-high and school-record 328 yards rushing and three touchdowns, including an 81-yarder, on 26 carries in a 33-12 victory over Lakewood.

Also deserving mention: Anthony Brown, Jr., QB, St. John Vianney; Derek Ernst, Jr., RB, Raritan.

Defense

Frank Condito, Sr., LB, Holmdel

Condito registered 17 tackles and forced and recovered a fumble that he returned 45 yards for a touchdown in a 30-22 victory over Pinelands.

Also deserving mention: Connor Kelly, Sr., DB, Rumson-Fair Haven; Aliem Shaw, Jr., LB, Matawan.

 

Class A South

Offense

Jon Bleichner, Sr., QB, Southern Regional

Bleichner threw for a school-record 358 yards and two touchdowns on 17-of-30 passing in a 24-14 loss to Toms River North. His 358 yards broke the previous record by nearly 100 yards, and is the highest passing total in the Shore this season.

Also deserving mention: Mike Husni, So, QB, Toms River North; Mike Gawlik, So., RB, Jackson Memorial; Ray Fattaruso, Sr., RB, Brick; Conor Davies, Sr., QB, Lacey.

Defense

Dashon Copes, Jr., DL, Toms River North

Dopes made eight tackles, including two for a loss, along with a sack and three quarterback hurries in the Mariners’ 24-14 victory over Southern. Toms River North held the Rams to minus-22 rushing yards.

Also deserving mention: Brett Kinsey, Sr., LB, Lacey.

 

Class B North

Offense

(tie) Eddie Hahn, Jr., QB, Red Bank Catholic/Nick Lubischer, Sr., WR, Red Bank Catholic

Hahn threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns in the first half to help Red Bank Catholic to a 35-7 win over Manalapan, and also ran for several key first downs on third and fourth downs that helped the Caseys break the game open.

Lubischer helped the Caseys start their 35-7 win over Manalapan with some fireworks when he caught a pass on third down, broke a tackle and raced 75 yards for a touchdown on the third play of the game. He finished with three catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the first half before leaving the game with a knee injury.

Defense

Dylan Murphy, Jr., LB, Red Bank Catholic

The Caseys held Manalapan running back Imamu Mayfield to 75 yards and the Braves offense, which had been averaging over 40 points per game, to just one touchdown in a 35-7 win. Murphy finished with 13 tackles, 2 sacks, a pass deflection and a forced fumble as the Caseys won their 39th straight conference game.

Also deserving mention: Nick Lagrippo, Sr., LB, Red Bank Catholic; O’Shane Curate, Sr., LB, Neptune.

 

Class B Central

Offense

Mike Frauenheim, Sr., RB, Point Beach

The senior ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries, and also intercepted two passes in the Garnet Gulls’ 34-15 victory over Highland Park.

Also deserving mention: Mike Moore, Sr., RB, Shore; Christian Palmer, Sr., QB, Mater Dei Prep.

Defense

Doug Goldsmith, Jr., LB, Shore

Goldsmith made 11 tackles and notched a sack in the Blue Devils’ 35-0 shutout of South River, and also ran for 102 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries.

 

Class B South

Overall

Chapelle Cook, Sr., QB, Lakewood

Cook ran for 208 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries in a 33-12 loss to Rumson-Fair Haven.
