Class A North

No. 3 Howell 17, Neptune 1

Senior attackman Mark Buannic netted his 100th career goal and senior midfielder Christian Chambers and sophomore midfielder Jake Goldberg each scored their first varsity goals as the Rebels (9-1, 4-0) stayed hot by routing the Scarlet Fliers (1-7, 0-3).

Buannic and senior attackman Jake Sherman each scored a game-high three goals, seniors Zach Johns and J.T.  Pojero and juniors Zack Daly and Nic Rossi each scored twice and sophomore Nico Lorenzo also tallied for the Rebels. Senior Ryder Verdoni and sophomore Drew Bukowiec each finished with two assists.

 

No. 4 CBA 11, Colts Neck 3

Sophomore attackman Nick Casner scored a game-high four goals and added two assists as the Colts (7-3, 3-1) rolled past the Cougars (3-4, 1-2).

Junior attackman Shay Walscak had two goals and one assist and junior midfielder John Salcedo and freshman attackman Mike Carroll each scored twice. Junior midfielders Shane McGuiness also scored for CBA while junior midfielder Justin Shea-Katz and junior attackman Cologialo Mascara each had two assists. Senior defenseman Joe Ventura had a game-high nine ground balls.

Colts Neck junior goalie Andrew Halmi made 18 saves and also had an assist. Vinnie Gargiulo, Anthony Mauriello and Jack Schaefer found the back of the net for the Cougars.

 

Middletown North 9, Middletown South 8 (OT)

Senior midfielder Jordan Robinson was the hero with the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Lions (8-4, 2-2) past the Eagles (5-6, 2-2) to take round one in the battle of Middletown.

Senior attackman Justin Russo finished with a hat trick, junior midfielder Khristian Acosta finished with two goals and two assists and junior attackman Bryan Flannigan also scored twice.

 

Class A South

Jackson Memorial 14, Brick 5

Senior attackman Troy Wolf went off with a four-goal, seven-assist takeover to lead the Jaguars (4-5, 2-2) past the Dragons (7-3, 2-2).

Junior attackman Justin Mayer added four goals and senior attackman Billy Plungis had a hat trick. Junior midfielder Jared Calhoun had a goal and two assists and senior midfielder Zack Tetro finished with a goal and an assist. Sophomore goalie Dylan Furnback made nine saves.

Senior midfielder Pat Adamitis led Brick with a goal and two assists, freshman midfielder Nick D'Eufemia had a goal and an assist and senior midfielder M.J. Fazio contributed two assists. Sophomore Gavin Cole made 12 saves.

 

Toms River South 5, Toms River East 2

Tyler Sosa scored a hat trick and Kyle Varley had three assists as the Indians (2-6, 1-2) topped the Raiders (0-7, 0-3)

 

No. 10 Toms River North 17, Brick Memorial 3

 

Class B North

No. 8 Ocean 16, Red Bank 6

Junior midfielder Erik Rant scored a game-high six goals, including the 100th of his career, as the Spartans (6-1, 3-1) scored an impressive win over the Bucs (4-8, 1-3).

Senior attackman Christian Goslin also had a big game with five goals and one assist and junior midfielder Connor Daly finished with two goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Sam Hanna also scored twice and junior attackman Joey Appio and senior attackman Zack Karasic each had a goal and two assists.

Junior midfielder Alex Bravo had a game-high eight ground balls while Rant had seven and senior LSM Steven Graziano picked up six. Sophomore goalie David Walk finished with 12 saves.

 

No. 7 Red Bank Catholic 11, Holmdel 4

Junior midfielder Brett Habich led the way with five goals and two assists to fuel the Caseys (6-2, 3-0) in their home victory over the Hornets (3-5, 2-2).

Senior attackman Tim Barile had three assists, junior attackman Alec Mintz had a goal and two assists and freshman midfielder James Mele finished with a goal and an assist. Senior Mike DeMonte also scored for RBC, while junior goalie Matt Benjamin made 11 saves.

Sophomore attackman Billy DiMaio scored twice for Holmdel while junior midfielder Frank Entwistle and freshman attackman Jack Kapscos also tallied.

 

No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven at Ranney - postponed to Saturday 10 a.m.

Shore at St. John Vianney - postponed to Thursday

 

Class B South

No. 5 Manasquan 7, No. 9 Barnegat 4

Senior midfielder Chris Klodowski and sophomore attackman Joe Tonkovich each scored twice and sophomore goalie Tom Pollock made 14 saves to lead a superb defensive effort as the Warriors (8-2, 3-0) took a major step toward a division title by taking down the Bengals (3-2, 1-1) in Barnegat.

Sophomore midfielder Pat Felstedt and sophomore attackman John Moran and Jarrett Birch each had a goal and an assist, and the defensive unit of sophomores Chip Sarnasi, Kyle LeBlanc, Edmund Mallett and senior Conor Gleason, along with man-down specialist senior Craig Miller held a dangerous Barnegat offense in check.

Junior attackman Ryan Reynolds led Barnegat with a goal and two assists while senior midfielder Ricky Gerena had a goal and an assist. Sophomore defenseman Hunter Narozniak and junior attackman Tristian Potts also scored goals for the Bengals. Sophomore goalie Kyle Kessinger made 12 saves.

 

Wall 10, St. Rose 7

The Crimson Knights (8-1, 3-0) outscored the Purple Roses (2-8, 0-4) 3-0 in the fourth quarter to break a seven-all tie and come away with the victory to remain unbeaten in the division.

Freshman attackman Michael McIntyre led the way with four goals while junior attackman Mike Steppe had a hat trick and two assists. Sophomore attackman Thomas Jenkins also had a hat trick and added one assist.

St. Rose senior attackman Matt Frost scored two goals and also had two assists to become the Purple Roses' all-time scoring leader. His 176 points broke the previous record set by former Manasquan head coach and current Howell assistant Rob Hoffman.

 

Jackson Liberty 16, Donovan Catholic 6

Sophomore attackman Dylan O'Connor and junior attackman Tyler Kalmowitz each scored four goals and junior midfielder Walter Matthies had two goals, three assists and 11 ground balls to lead the Lions (5-4, 2-2) past the Griffins (3-6, 1-1).

Senior midfielder Shawn DeJesus, junior attackman Matthew Ferullo and junior midfielder Christian Pongracz each finished with two goals and one assist and freshman midfielder Tommy Ferullo and senior midfielder Jack Trubiano also struck for Jackson Liberty. Junior LSM Chris Stefanowicz had two assists and a game-high 12 ground balls and junior Chris Mulholland made eights saves to earn the win.

Pete Schlendorf led Donovan Catholic with four goals and Alex Kolvakov made 12 saves.
