Friday, May 19

5-Don Bosco Prep 9, 12-St. John Vianney 6

Freshman midfielder Matt Franzoni had three goals with one assist and C.J. Hanson made 16 saves for the Lancers (11-10), but the Ironmen (10-5) pulled ahead in the second half to advance to the second round.

The game was tied 5-5 at halftime but Don Bosco Prep scored three goals in the third quarter to take an 8-6 lead.

Andrew Porretta had a goal and an assist, Anthony Brett and Chris Kelly scored once and Tino D'Amore and Ryan Gilfillan had assists.

Andrew Kim had a hat trick and Justin Kim had two goals and two assists for Don Bosco Prep. Matt Solleder also scored twice and Steve Rann made nine saves.

 

Saturday, May 20

7-CBA 15, 10-St. Joseph (Metuchen) 8

Junior attackman Mike Carroll scored five goals and added three assists as the Colts (10-7) opened a 10-2 halftime lead to defeat the Rams (9-8) and advance to the second round.

Robbie Hermansen scored four goals and also had two assists and Nick Casner had two goals and four assists. Connor Macrae had two goals and one assist, Luke Valentino added a goal and two assists and Matt Farrell scored once. Ryan McGuiness and Chris Downey each made five saves.

CBA will play No. 2 seed Delbarton in the quarterfinals.

9-Oratory Prep 7, 8-St. Rose 6

Griffin McDermott had a hat trick with one assist and Robbie Brugnoli made 11 saves for the Purple Roses (11-7), who were edged by the Rams (11-7) in the first round.

Jack Cusack had two goals with one assist and Chris Bormida had one goal and one assist. Bormida finished the season with 55 goals, the all-time single-season record for St. Rose.
