Championship Game

At Monmouth University

1-Southern 16, 2-Rumson-Fair Haven 6

The Rams dominated from beginning to end to finally finish the job and take home the Shore Conference Tournament title, becoming the first Ocean County team to ever win the SCT.

Senior midfielder Chris Smith led the scoring with five goals while junior attackman Nick Simonelli had three goals and three assists and sophomore attackman Kyle Mulrane notched a hat trick. Senior attackman Dylan Jinks scored two goals and assisted on two more, sophomore Will Johnson also scored twice and senior midfielder Shawn McManus had a goal and an assist.

Senior goalie Brendan Lefanto made 11 saves, including three crucial stops in the first quarter to help Southern hold a 4-1 lead. The Rams scored the first four goals of the game and led 8-2 at halftime. They never let up, pouring in four more in the third quarter to push the advantage to 12-3 and kept their foot on the pedal with four more goals in the final quarter. The defense was outstanding as well, as the unit of senior Mike Adragna and juniors Evan Henken, Anthony Triola and Gordie Vonschmidt limited Rumson to three even-strength goals.

Senior midfielder Lucas Seckler led Rumson with three goals and junior attackman Robbie Garavente scored twice.

No. 4 Freehold Township 14, Colts Neck 2

The Patriots (14-5) crushed the Cougars (7-8) to officially clinch a three-way tie for the division title with CBA and Howell.

Senior attackman Mark Buannic scored six goals with three assists to record his 200th career point and lead the Rebels (13-3) past the Jaguars (7-9) in their final tune-up before the state tournament.

Senior attackman Jake Sherman added four goals and one assist and Zack Ornstein and Ryder Verdoni each finished with a goal and an assist. Nic Rossi, Evan Wesley and Zach Johns also scored for the Rebels and Ian Colmorgan made six saves.

Billy Plungis scored twice for Jackson, Zack Tetro added a goal and Dylan Furnback made 18 saves.

 

Lacey 18, Marlboro 6

Sophomore midfielder Connor Wilson scored a game-high four goals, seniors Dan McAvoy and Lucas Sirotniak each scored three times and seniors Kieranan Quinn and Chris Hofford each scored twice to power the Lions (13-5) past the Mustangs (2-13).

Tim Gleason, Tom Campbell, Ryan Mahon and freshman Justin Covey also scored for Lacey. Quinn and Mahon each added three assists while Sirotniak and McAvoy had two each. Gleason and Hofford contributed one assist each. Mike Trezza made three saves in goal.
