Class A North

No. 3 CBA 10, No. 7 Freehold Township 4

Sophomore attackman Nick Casner scored five goals and added two assists as the Colts (4-1, 2-0) scored the final seven goals of the game to get past the Patriots (4-3, 1-1) in Middletown.

Freshman attackman Michael Carroll contributed two goals and one assist and junior attackman Cologialo Mascara added a goal and an assist for CBA. Senior Evan Bynoe made 11 saves.

Senior midfielder Billy Sasso and senior attackman Brandon Nunez each had a goal and an assist, and Matt Schroepfer made 11 saves for Freehold Township.

 

No. 8 Colts Neck 9, Middletown North 8 (OT)

Sophomore attackman Vinnie Gargiulo had a hat trick and one assist and junior attackman Thijs Smit finished with two goals and two assists as the Cougars (1-3, 1-1) outlasted the Lions (5-3, 1-2) in overtime.

Chris Bisignano and Jack Schaefer also scored twice and Andrew Halmi made 15 saves to help the Cougars pick up their first victory of the season.

Bryan Flannigan had two goals and three assists, Ryan Aker notched two goals and two assists and Kevin Powers made 15 saves for Middletown North.

 

Class A South

No. 1 Southern 17, Toms River South 1

Senior attackman Dylan Jinks scored a game-high five goals and added two assists to lead the Rams (7-0, 2-0) past the Indians (0-3, 0-1) in Toms River.

Chris Smith added three goals and two assists and Shawn McManus and Nick Simonelli each finished with two goals and four assists. Will Johnson chipped in with a goal and two assists, and Kyle Mulrane, Jon Manzo, Ryan McWhorter and Dylan Smith also tallied for Southern. Brendan Lefanto, Alex Gile and Tristen Farina each made one save to combine for the win in goal.

 

Lacey 8, Brick 4

Sophomore midfielder Connor Wilson scored two goals and added two assists and Ryan Mahon and Lucas Sirotniak also sank a pair of goals as the Lions (5-2, 1-0) pulled away from the Dragons (4-1, 0-1) in the second half.

Dan McAvoy and Tim Gleason also scored for Lacey while Mike Trezza made 13 saves.

Hunter Palmer scored twice for Brick.

 

Toms River North 7, Jackson Memorial 6

 

Class B North

Ocean 9, Holmdel 8

Erik Rant had a hat trick and a game-high nine ground balls and Joey Appio had four assists as the Spartans (4-0, 1-0) continued their strong start to the season by edging the Hornets (1-4, 0-1) in Holmdel.

Zach Karasic added two goals and two assists and Christian Goslin also scored twice. Sam Hanna had a goal and an assist, Connor Daly chipped in with two assists and David Walk made seven saves.

Justin Ruiz made 16 saves for Holmdel, which received a hat trick from Jack Kapscos, two goals and three assists from Tom Rogan and two goals from Billy DiMaio.

 

Red Bank Catholic 21, Long Branch 2

Alec Mintz had a hat trick and four assists to lead the Caseys (3-1, 1-0) past the Green Wave (1-5, 0-1) in Long Branch. Tim Barile added two goals and four assists and Julian Esposito had a hat trick and an assist.

 

Red Bank 17, Ranney 8

Cole Smolokoff led the way with five goals and five assists and Brayden Seely scored a game-high six goals to lead the Bucs (3-4, 1-0) past the Panthers (0-2, 0-1) in Little Silver.

Seamus Cochrane also had a hat trick and Brian Fagan added two goals and three assists. Jon Pierce made 10 saves.

Peter Gerhard and Jack Torpey each had hat tricks for Ranney.

 

Class B South

No. 6 Manasquan 10, St. Rose 3

Jarrett Birch and Devan Carroll each registered hat tricks and Chris Klodowski finished with two goals and two assists to lead the Warriors (5-2, 1-0) past the Purple Roses (1-4, 0-2) in Belmar.

Senior attackman Matt Frost scored his 100th career goal for St. Rose.

 

No. 10 Wall 11, Jackson Liberty 8

Mike Steppe had a hat trick and Dylan Bosco, Lucas Iarossi and Thomas Jenkins each scored twice to lead the Crimson Knights (4-0, 1-0) past the Lions (2-3, 1-1) in Wall.

Matt Ferullo scored a game-high four goals for Jackson Liberty and Andrew Ferullo added a pair of goals.

 

Friday

Class A North

No. 5 Howell 13, Marlboro 4

Jake Sherman scored his 100th career goal and Zack Ornstein recorded his 100th career point as the Rebels (6-0, 2-0) beat the Mustangs for their best start in program history.

Zach Johns scored his first varsity goal.
