Girls Basketball Week 3 Player of the Week voted by the fans and presented by Thrive Spine and Sports Rehab.

Week 3 - 1/2/24 to 1/7/24

Kiera McKown, Howell

McKown's performance in Week 3 helped Howell surge up the rankings into the Shore 16 and defeat two teams ranked in the Shore 16. In three games last week she averaged 11.3 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks a game and was voted as Player of the Week by the fans.

Howell, who came into the week ranked 14th, played No. 13 Point Boro to open the week and McKown scored 8 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had 3 blocks against a tall Point Boro team.

McKown brought her “A” game against No. 6 Red Bank Regional filling every stat line. She had 8 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 blocks and 2 steals to help Howell upset RBR. Her defense in the post made it difficult for the Bucs to work the ball into their center Caroline Polloway, tipping or causing passes to become turnovers.

McKown ended the week with a double-double against Toms River East. She scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and on the defensive end had 2 blocks and 2 steals. McKown enters week 5 with four consecutive double-doubles and has six on the season.

McKown collected 47.6 percent of the votes casted for the Week 3 fan voted Player of the Week award. Point Beach's Lauryn Case finished in second with 17.7 percent of the vote and Brick Memorial’s Kayla Herzer finished in third with 17.6 percent of the vote.

Each fan voted Player of the Week will receive one recovery session at Thrive Spine and Sports Rehab.
