Monmouth County Tournament - Bracket
First Round

(1) Wall 6, (16) Freehold 5

Ryan Orender delivered a bases-loaded single with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Dan Wondrack with the winning run and cap a three-run seventh inning as the Crimson Knights (10-1) won a back-and-forth MCT round-of-16 game against the Class B North rival Colonials (7-6).

Freehold scored four runs in the top of the seventh to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 5-3 lead after Wall left fielder Nick Martinez injured his wrist diving for a leadoff single by Freehold catcher Nick LaMorte. The game stopped for 25 minutes while an ambulance came to take Martinez, who left with his arm in a sling.

Wondrack gave Wall a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run home run, his second homer of the season. Branden Biegert followed with a double and scored on an RBI single by center fielder Tim Willey.

Freehold took a 1-0 lead on an RBI triple by Luke Tiefenthaler in the top of the fifth. Tiefenthaler also worked a walk to load the bases in the top of the seventh with Wall still leading 3-1 and came around to score the go-ahead run on an RBI single by Chris Cassandra.

Alex Mulhern tied the game at three with an RBI single to left and Zach Mulhern doubled home a run to make it 5-3.

Wall will host the winner of Saturday's first-round game between No. 8 Christian Brothers Academy and No. 9 St. Rose in the MCT quarterfinal round.

Preliminary Round

(21) Marlboro 2, (12) Ocean 0

Goldstein walked two and struck out four while getting some defensive help from Santaromita. Ocean threatened in the bottom of the second, but Santaromita threw out a runner at home plate to thwart the rally and later made a diving catch in the left-center gap.

Santaromita also plated the first run of the game with an RBI single in the top of the third, right after he cut down the potential run at home plate. Sophomore Jeff Reilly was also 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while Justin Trochiano went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
