Thrive Week 7 Girls Soccer Player of the Week

Makenzie Memmolo, Howell

Freshman Makenzie Memmolo finished off a fantastic rookie season with a stellar state tournament, which started with two goals and two assists in her first ever state sectional playoff game against Hightstown in Central Jersey Group 4. Her opening-round performance brought her first season totals to 12 goals and 7 assists.

Memmolo started the game off with an assist on the opening goal to Leila Oshiro eight minutes into the game. Less than 30 seconds later, she scored her own goal to get the Rebels rolling. She followed the same pattern in the second half. Memmolo connected again with Oshiro in the 63rd minute and then scored three minutes later in the 66th minute.

Memmolo collected 56.4 percent of the votes casted for the Week 7 Player of the Week award. Colts Neck’s Terri Morgan (11.8 percent) and St. John Vianney’s Isabella Merrifield (11 percent) rounded out the top three in votes casted.
