Thrive Week 3 Girls Soccer Player of the Week

Giselle Lizardi, Brick Memorial

Junior Giselle Lizardi took over as the starting goalie for Brick Memorial this season and was tested right from the start by the Mustangs' difficult schedule. Her play is one reason why Brick Memorial contended for the Class A South title and her effort against division rival Central Regional was one of the top goalie performances of the season.

Her play resulted in her being voted by the fans as Week 3 Thrive Girls Soccer Player of the Week in the 2023 season.

Even though Brick Memorial did not get the result against No. 4 Central Regional, Lizardi was the reason it was a one-goal game. She made several diving saves, including a one-on-one save on a breakaway against one of the leading scorers in the Shore Conference, Emma Harmon.

Lizardi helped Brick Memorial rebound the next game against then No. 9 Jackson Memorial by posting her fifth shutout of the season.

Lizardi collected 34.7 percent of the votes casted for the Week 3 Player of the Week award. Rumson-Fair Haven Katie Walls (22 percent) was the runner-up and led three nominees with at least 10 percent of the vote. Long Branch’s Adriana Ramirez (12.8 percent) and Toms River East’s Peyton Gallagher (10.9 percent) were the other two.

As the third Thrive Girls Soccer Player of the Week of the 2023 season, Lizardi will receive a shirt and a free training session courtesy of Thrive.
