Class A North

No. 8 Freehold Twp. 7, Marlboro 3

Senior Zach Gorman threw five one-hit innings before turning the game over the Freehold Township bullpen and the Patriots put away the Mustangs. Gorman struck out two, walked two and threw 72 pitches.

Gorman also knocked in the third Patriots run with an RBI single during a five-run fifth. Senior Nick Kolozsvary, senior Patrick Burns, senior Griffin Murphy and junior Ryan Keegan all went 1-for-3, with Kolozsvary scoring a run and knock one in, Burns scored two, Murphy driving in one and Keegan scoring one.

Senior Mark Capell took the loss for Marlboro despite limiting Freehold Township to three hits and two walks over four innings while striking out seven. Capell also drove in a run and senior Alex Jankowski was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

 

Class A South

Central 13, Southern 10

Freshman catcher Cristian Soto hit a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the fifth and senior Evan Agrapides followed with a two-run homer as the Golden Eagles won another wild, back-and-forth affair over the Rams.

Junior Shane Sajewicz earned the win in relief and also went 3-for-4 with three RBI at the plate for Central.

 

Class B South

Lacey 12, Point Boro 0 (5 Innings)

Senior Nick Zarycki pitched a five-inning one-hitter and the Lions routed the Panthers for the second time this week with another shutout. Zarycki struck out six, walked four and completed the game on 93 pitches.

Senior Jacob Bowles - who threw a no-hitter in Monday's opener vs. Point Boro - went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI while senior Matt Kaliske also homered in going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Junior Matt Todaro was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI and classmate Matt McClung was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Seniors Josh Fracasso and Donnie Kirk each went 2-for-3 with two runs, with Kirk driving in a run and Fracasso cracking a double.

No. 1 Jackson Memorial 9, Freehold Boro 0

Junior Zach McCabe fired five one-hit innings with nine strikeouts and the Jaguars rolled to a win over the Colonials. McCabe walked four and threw 78 pitches before exiting after five.

Sophomore Charlie Meglio went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead the offense while senior Zach Rogacki was 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for Jackson Memorial.

Dean Daddio finished off the game on the mound for Jackson Memorial, allowed a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

 

Rumson-Fair Haven 9, No. 7 Wall 6

Senior Thomas Elgrim went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI to highlight the balanced Rumson batting order, which outslugged the red-hot Crimson Knights.

Sophomore Reece Moroney was 2-for-4 with two RBI, junior Brian Doherty was 2-for-5 with an RBI and senior Dylan Sakele was 1-for-3 with two RBI before closing the game out with a perfect seventh inning and two strikeouts.

Sophomore Owen Kenney went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and junior Charlie Tallman was 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Junior Mike Amendola pitched five innings and 102 pitches to secure the win for Rumson.

Senior Christian Cosenza was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Wall, while junior Jerry Winchester and sophomore Gabe Cavozzoni each went 1-for-4 with a double. Sophomore Matt Johnson 4 1/3 innings and 75 pitches to take the loss.

 

Middletown South 12, No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 10

Senior Greg Trezza belted a three-run home run during a nine-run bottom of the fourth for Middletown South as the Eagles (2-0) rallied from an early 7-0 deficit to stun the Caseys (1-1). Junior Brendan Roche earned the win in relief and junior Evan Wood finished off the game with a save.

Freshman Brandon Hendrickson went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and senior brother, Trevor Hendrickson, was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, but the Admirals fell short against the Rams.

No. 2 Manalapan 7, North Brunswick 0

Seniors Anthony Mauro and Tom Guidice both went deep and junior Tyler Kane spun five two-hit innings with eight strikeouts to lead the Braves (1-1) over the Raiders.

Kane walked four and threw 82 pitches before turning the game over to junior Aidan Tumbelson, who closed the game out with two shutout frames.

Mauro (2-for-3, two runs) opened the scoring in the top of the first with a two-run home run and Guidice (2-for-4, double, two runs) capped it with a two-run shot in the top of the seventh.

Senior Chris Marzo went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a pair of stolen bases out of the leadoff spot. Senior Anthony Matrone and sophomore Cristian Bernadini each went 1-for-3 with a double, with Bernadini plating a run with his double.
