Girls Basketball Ocean County Week 6 Player of the Week

The Basketball Player of the Week has been a staple of Shore Sports Network's coverage over the years and we have always left it up to the fans to decide the winner -- and still do. Now, SSN is recognizing its own choices for Player of the Week, not just in the Shore Conference, but in Monmouth and Ocean Counties individually.

Ocean County’s Week 6 Player of the Week Presented by AOSMI

Emma Thornton, Barnegat

Thornton took her double-double streak to 20 games dating back to last season and also reached the 1,000 point milestone to be named Ocean County Player of the Week.

She started the week scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against Toms River North. She followed that with 29 points and 22 rebounds against Manalapan. During that game she shot 17 out of 19 from the foul-line and reached the 1,000 point milestone. She also scored 29 out of the team's 38 points.

Thornton ended the week with 25 points and 19 rebounds in a victory over Lacey. She also stepped up on the defensive side of the ball, stealing the ball 5 times in the game.

Each Ocean County Player of the Week will receive a $10 gift card courtesy of Surf Taco.
