Non-Public Group III

(1) Delbarton 38, (4) St. John Vianney 26

Sophomore running back Andrew Papandonis ran for 178 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, including a back-breaking, 59-yard touchdown run on third-and-14 with 57.9 seconds left in the game, and also returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and caught a 12-yard touchdown pass as the Green Wave (9-1) held off the Lancers (10-1).

Delbarton advances to face second-seeded Red Bank Catholic in the championship game at a neutral site on the weekend of Dec. 5-7.

Junior quarterback Anthony Brown threw for 278 yards and ran for two touchdowns, and junior Khalil Haskins had a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown and scored on a 5-yard run in the loss for St. John Vianney. Senior wideout P.J. Braccia had 100 yards on seven catches in his final high school game. The Lancers finished the season tied for the most wins in school history and won their first division title since 1982 and their first state playoff game since 1981 this fall.

The Lancers were hurt by five turnovers, three lost fumbles and two interceptions, including a fumble at the goal line that led to a touchback and a fumble with one second left in the first half that led to a 25-yard field goal by Delbarton junior kicker Carter Massengill for a 17-6 lead at the break.

Non-Public Group I

(1) St. Joseph's-Hammonton 41, (5) Mater Dei Prep 18

Senior quarterback Christian Palmer threw three touchdown passes, all of them to senior Tysaun White in the first half, as the Seraphs (8-3) fought hard before falling to the defending champion Wildcats (10-0), who were led by four touchdowns from junior star A'Laam Horne.

Palmer finished the season with a Shore Conference-record 44 total touchdowns between rushing and passing, including a Shore Conference-leading 27 touchdown passes. He threw scores of 8, 74 and 35 yards to White in the loss.
