Saturday's Games

Class A North

Freehold Twp. 21, Marlboro 6

Sophomore Max Nowak ran for his first varsity touchdown, Shane Laricy scored on a 53-yard fake punt play, and senior Matt Pine added a score on the ground as the Patriots (3-3, 2-3) got back to the .500 mark with a win over the Mustangs (0-6, 0-5).  

Class A Central

No. 10 Rumson-FH 28, Manasquan 21

Sophomore quarterback Mike O'Connor threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Kenny Ferrare with 16.8 seconds left in the game to break a 21-21 tie and send the Bulldogs (3-2, 3-1) to a thrilling win on the road over the Warriors (3-3, 2-2) to end a two-game skid.

Senior tailback Charlie Volker was outstanding after returning from a two-game absence due to a high ankle sprain as he rolled up 267 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 30 carries for Rumson.

Freshman running back Connor Morgan ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns in the loss for Manasquan, including an 8-yard run with 2:51 left in the game that helped Manasquan tie it at 21 after senior tight end Tanner Cowley ran in a two-point conversion.

Class A South

Southern 16, Toms River South 13

Brandon Barnetti nailed a 27-yard field goal with 1.6 seconds left in regulation to give the Rams (3-2, 2-2) a surprising win over the Indians (3-2, 2-2).

Pat Walker ran for a 12-yard touchdown and the Rams took a 13-7 halftime lead on a 15-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Jon Bleichner to junior tight end Evan Henken.

Senior quarterback Tymere Berry ran for a 52-yard touchdown and threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Javion Harris in the loss for Toms River South.

Class B Central

Shore 14, Mater Dei Prep 8

Junior fullback Doug Goldsmith ran for 141 yards and two touchdowns in his first game of the season after returning from a knee injury to help the Blue Devils (4-1, 3-0) knock off the Seraphs (4-2, 3-1) for a big divisional win.

Senior quarterback Christian Palmer finished with 245 total yards and senior Tysaun White had an 11-yard touchdown run in the loss for Mater Dei.

Class B North

Neptune 17, Colts Neck 14 (OT) 

Senior kicker Hunter Daly nailed a 37-yard field goal in overtime as the Scarlet Fliers (3-2, 3-1) survived an upset bid by the host Cougars (0-6, 0-4) after trailing 14-0 at halftime.

Senior tailback Jaree Parrish had a 17-yard touchdown run and senior Royal Moore threw a 45-yard touchdown pass in the second half to help Neptune rally to tie the game.

Abdul Quddus ran for a score and junior quarterback Max Mullaney threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to wideout Jordan DeGroot in the loss for Colts Neck, which missed a field goal on its overtime possession and at the end of regulation.

Class B South

Lakewood 46, Donovan Catholic 0

Senior quarterback Chapelle Cook scored four touchdowns and junior running back Amir Tyler added two as the Piners (4-1, 4-1) bounced back from their first loss by routing the Griffins (1-5, 1-4).
