Down in South Jersey, the consistent winning of Pinelands continues to come as the years go on. A year off of a miracle run winning a sectional title, the Wildcats knew that expectations would be high with a strong returning roster to the court.

One of the Wildcats returning starters in Olivia Shertenlieb returned to the scene, ready to bring Pinelands back to the level of play they found themselves in a season ago.

Out of the gate, Shertenlieb proved to be one of the best setters across the Jersey Shore. On opening day against Toms River East, Shertenlieb delivered with 22 assists in a three-set victory. The consistent play only continued on as Shertenlieb found herself with performances of 22 and 18 assists in victories over divisional rivals Lakewood and Manchester.

In all but two matches throughout 2023, Shertenlieb found herself with double-digit assist total, only reconfirming how much of a threat the junior star is.

Inside the Shore Conference Tournament, Shertenlieb led the way with 20 assists against Brick Memorial, pushing the Wildcats into the quarterfinals.

Once states kicked off, it was full go-time for Shertenlieb and the Wildcats. Shertenlieb led all with 18 assists in a two-set opening round victory over Lacey. In the quarterfinals against Timber Creek, Shertenlieb blossomed once again, leading the way with 26 assists.

The Wildcats found themselves on the road in the sectional finals against Mainland. Shertenlieb gave it her all, providing 26 assists in their final match of the season. With Shertenlieb back in 2024, the same threat continues to roll through Pinelands with expectations returning to high.

Olivia Shertenlieb asserted herself as not only Pinelands best setter but one of the conferences elite talents throughout. Ending with 581 assists, 96 digs and 87 service points, Shertenlieb had one of the better seasons the conference has laid eyes on. Olivia Shertenlieb has been named 2023 Shore Sports Network Girls Volleyball Junior of the Year for the continued display of athleticism and for the immediate impact she had on the program as a whole.
