Class A North

Manalapan senior Jake Kaminsky (19-0), the District 21 champion at 145 pounds last season, won by 12-3 major decision over Matt Best (17-4), the 152-pound District 22 champ, at 152 pounds in the feature bout of the match.

Class A South

Matt Wilhelm defeated Will Scott 3-2 at 160 pounds and the Rams (10-5) won seven straight bouts from 220 through 132 pounds in closing out its divisional schedule with a victory over the Dragons (16-4).

Southern limited bonus points from the teeth of Brick's lineup, allowing just four bonus points from 152 through 195 pounds despite losing four of the five bouts. Freshman Matt Barnett and senior Chris Crane won by fall at 113 and 120 pounds, respectively to give Southern a 25-16 lead after trailing 16-3 through five bouts. Senior James Knoeller clinched the victory with an 11-0 major decision over Anthony Costanza at 132 pounds.

Wilhelm, last season's 138-pound Region VI champion, escaped in the third period after Scott (24-2) chose the top position, then scored a takedown to take a 3-0 lead. Scott scored a reversal with just over 10 seconds left in regulation, but Wilhelm (19-2) was able to hold on for the victory.

Brick's Nick Pollara returned to the lineup after missing the last seven matches with an elbow injury and won by fall in 1:38 over Seon Bowker at 152 pounds.
