Wrestling – 2015 Shore Conference Tournament Seeds

Defending champion Howell, the No. 1 team in the Shore Sports Network Top 10, was selected as the top seed for the 2015 Shore Conference Wrestling Tournament on Sunday morning.

The Rebels are undefeated at 16-0 with its top conference victories coming over No. 4 CBA, No. 6 Long Branch and No. 8 Southern. Howell also has a victory over Phillipsburg, another top 10 team in New Jersey.

Second-ranked Brick Memorial is the No. 2 seed. The Mustangs' only loss is to state No. 1 Bergen Catholic, and they own wins over No. 3 Jackson Memorial, No. 5 Brick, No. 7 Toms River South, No. 8 Southern and No. 10 Raritan.

Brick's win over Toms River South on Saturday locked up the No. 3 seed for the Green Dragons, and could set up a rematch with Brick Memorial in the semifinals. The Mustangs won 37-20 in their A South meeting on Jan. 17. The Dragons have a criteria win over No. 3 Jackson Memorial and a win over the aforementioned seventh-ranked Indians, along with victories over Toms River North and Middletown North.

Jackson Memorial fell to the No. 4 seed based on Brick's head-to-head win. The Jaguars have victories over No. 7 Toms River South and No. 8 Southern and have performed well in nonconference matches, defeating Paramus and South Plainfield while losing to St. Peter's Prep, a top-five team in New Jersey, by just two points.

Southern Regional again elected not to enter the tournament for the fourth straight season. CBA and Point Beach also declined to enter the tournament. The Colts could have potentially earned the No. 3 seed based on their head-to-head win over Brick, coupled with the fact that their only conference loss is to No. 1 Howell.

UPDATE: The impending snowstorm has pushed back the first, second and third rounds to Friday Jan. 30. The top four seeds will now host the first three rounds at 4, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The semifinals and championship match remain as scheduled for 3 and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at Jackson Liberty.

At Howell

17-Matawan vs 16-Freehold Township, 4 p.m.

Matawan/Freehold Township winner vs. 1-Howell, 5:30 p.m.

9-Jackson Liberty vs. 8-Raritan, 5:30 p.m.

Winners meet at 7:30 p.m.

At Jackson Memorial

20-Shore vs. 13-Ocean, 4 p.m.

Shore/Ocean winner vs. 4-Jackson Memorial, 5:30 p.m.
