WOBM Christmas Classic Seeds, Brackets and Schedule
The Manasquan High School boys and girls basketball teams have received the top seeds in the 31st annual WOBM Christmas Classic, which gets underway this weekend at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River.
Tournament founder and director Kevin Williams made the announcement today during the annual Tip Off breakfast at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center in Toms River.
Coaches from the 32 participating teams met Sunday at The Villa in Toms River to seed the teams although the announcement was not released until today’s breakfast featuring more than 275 players, coaches, sponsors and guests.
The defending champion Manasquan girls begin defense of their title this Saturday when they face Shore (6:45pm) in the eighth and final first-round game of the day.
Led by Courtney Hagaman and Marina Mabrey, the Warriors reached the Tournament of Champions final in March and are poised for another championship season. Middletown South, Red Bank Catholic and Freehold Township round out the top four seeds.
The boys first round will be played on Sunday with Manasquan to make their WOBM Christmas Classic debut against Brick (6:45pm) in the Pine Belt Arena. The Warriors feature 6’4 junior forward Ryan Jensen along with junior guard Jack Sheehan. Red Bank Catholic is the second seed and will open with Jackson Memorial. Freehold Township, Toms River North and defending champion Manchester round out the top seeds.
