Every week this spring, WindMill Restaurants and Shore Sports Network will be teaming up to select a Lacrosse Team of the Week based on its performance over the past week.

The WindMill Team of the Week for Week 4  is Holmdel, which put together a seven-game winning streak with two wins over ranked teams and another strong nonconference victory. Shore Sports Network stopped by practice on Thursday to present the Hornets and head coach Brendan Quinn with a Team of the Week certificate and a WindMill gift card.

After a 10-9 loss to No. 6 Shore Regional on April 22, Holmdel went on a tear beginning with a 16-4 victory over Colts Neck and continuing that week with a 7-2 win over Lenape and a shutout win over Neptune. In Week 5, Holmdel stayed hot with a 12-4 victory over No. 10 Red Bank Catholic, a 13-6 win over Paramus, a shutout over Long Branch, and closed with a dominant 16-5 triumph over then-No. 8 Middletown South.

The Hornets were 12-2 heading into a Class B North game with top-ranked Rumson-Fair Haven where their win streak was snapped by the Bulldogs in a 17-5 defeat. Holmdel will look to shake off that defeat in a hurry and advance in the Shore Conference Tournament. The Hornets received the No. 6 seed for the SCT and will host No. 11 Point Boro on Saturday morning.

Holmdel is ranked No. 8 in the latest Elite Sports PT Boys Lacrosse Top 10.

The Hornets' scoring balance and great play from their specialists have fueled one of the winningest seasons in program history. Holmdel is one win away from matching its win total from last season and its three losses are the program's fewest in at least the last 12 years.

Junior midfielder Will Gilfillan leads the team in scoring with 31 goals and 40 assists for 71 points and senior attackman Kyle Kapcsos has 26 goals and 23 assists for 49 points. Junior midfielder Gary Collyer, a first-year starter, has provided a huge punch with 30 goals and 23 assists for 53 points while freshman attackman Finnegan Buchan (33g, 11a) and freshman midfielder Jack Cannon (11g, 14a) have made an instant impact. Senior attackman Dylan Lagana has also provided a reliable scoring option with 16 goals.

Holmdel tends to have the ball a lot thanks to the standout play at the face-off X by sophomore Jack Powers. He has won 75 percent of his face-offs and collected 158 ground balls. Between the pipes, senior goalie Andrew Arredondo has made 130 saves with a 66% save percentage behind a defense that has yielded just 5.5 goals per game.
