Every week this spring, WindMill Restaurants and Shore Sports Network will be selecting a Boys Lacrosse Team of the Week based on its performance over the past week.

The WindMill Team of the Week for Week 2 (April 8 to April 14) is Wall Township, which went 3-0 with a pair of wins over ranked teams, including the most significant victory in program history. Shore Sports Network was at practice to present the Crimson Knights and head coach Chris Knight with a special certificate and a $300 WindMill gift card.

On Saturday, April 13, Wall went into Borden Stadium and defeated Rumson-Fair Haven, 10-9 in overtime, to knock off the Shore Conference powerhouse for the first time in program history. Sophomore midfielder Logan Peters scored the game-winning goal midway through the first overtime period to give the Knights the thrilling win. Peters finished with a team-high three goals and two assists, Ethan Doyle scored three times, Ryan Brice scored twice, Daniel Burns had a goal and two assists and Matt Dollive scored once to pace Wall’s offense. In goal, senior Sean DeMott was spectacular with 18 saves, including six in the fourth quarter, and was the foundation for the upset win. Wall entered the game ranked No. 6 in the Shore Sports Network Top 10 while Rumson was ranked No. 3

Earlier in the week on Monday, April 8, Wall rallied past Freehold Township for a 12-10 victory. The Knights were down 5-1 after the first quarter but scored eight times in the second quarter to pull ahead for good. Peters had a huge game there, as well, with four goals and four assists while Doyle had a hat trick, Dollive had a goal and four assists and Kyle Wenzel scored a goal and won 15 of 26 face-offs. Brice scored twice, John Knight scored once and Burns had two assists. DeMott was solid, as well, with 12 saves.

Wall also had a 16-6 win over Red Bank where Peters led the way with six goals and six assists.

The Crimson Knights graduated a large and impactful senior class last season and entered 2019 as a talented yet inexperienced squad. Their youth has not been an issue, however, as they are out to a 6-1 start and sit in second place in Class B North behind No. 1 Manasquan, which dealt Wall its only defeat. The Knights are now ranked No. 3 in the SSN Top 10.

After seeing limited action as a freshman, Peters has taken over as Wall’s top offensive threat and is in the midst of an outstanding season. His 53 points are tied for the Shore Conference lead with Manasquan superstar Canyon Birch and his 25 assists lead the Shore and are tied for third in New Jersey. His 28 goals are tied for fifth in the Shore.

Doyle has 20 goals and six assists, Brice has 13 goals and six assists and Dollive has 11 goals and eight assists. DeMott has made 71 saves in seven games with a .612 save percentage and Wenzel has won 59 percent of face-offs. Shane Meyler, Jake Pinkerton and Charlie Sasso have led the defense.

Wall’s lone game this week is against Ocean (6-2) on Wednesday night where it will try to keep its momentum going against a Spartans team looking to get back into the Top 10.
