Following a sophomore campaign in which he registered 82 tackles and five sacks much was expected of Jackson Memorial defensive end Collin McCarthy and he certainly has not disappointed through the first two games of the season.

The 6’6, 220-pound junior was selected as the Jersey Mike’s/Ocean Trophies Player of the Game following his performance Friday night in a 12-6 overtime win over Wall. McCarthy collected 13 tackles, including 6 for loss and 2 sacks and nearly won the game in regulation when he returned a botched punt for a touchdown. The play was ruled dead but McCarthy and the Jaguars defense secured the victory in overtime and are clearly a team to be reckoned with in the Constitution Division.
