WATCH: Red Bank at Holmdel – Rematch with Bigger Stakes
Six weeks after they met during the regular season Holmdel and Red Bank Regional will play again Friday night when the Liberty Division rivals face one another in the opening round of the NJSIAA South Group 3 Playoffs. The 7pm contest at Bob Roggy Field is the Jersey Mike’s Game of the Week on the Shore Sports Network and will be streamed live on shoresportsnetwork.com with Matt Harmon, Kevin Williams and Ed Sarluca calling the action. You can also watch the game on the Shore Sports Network Facebook page or by downloading the free Shore Sports Network mobile app.
Holmdel won the September 27th meeting 17-7 at Red Bank and another low-scoring affair is likely between the Hornets and Bucs who both come in with 5-3 records. Holmdel has dealt with a rash of injuries that has claimed their top running back and three quarterbacks but mainly on the strength of running back Tommy Ammiratii and linebacker Thomas Sardo they have earned a playoff berth.
Meanwhile, the Bucs know all about injuries as ACL surgery in the summer claimed one of the shore’s top running backs in Makai Mickens. However, in one of the best stories of this season Mickens has returned and scored two touchdowns in a win over Monmouth Regional last night. RBR also features quarterback Jack Chamberlain who has combined for nearly 1,500 yards passing and rushing.
The winner will advance to the sectional semifinals next week against the winner of the game between top-seed Woodrow Wilson and #8 Hopewell Valley.
The Jersey Mike’s Game of the Week on the Shore Sports Network is presented by Jersey Mike’s, Atlantic Physical Therapy Center, Sansone Jr’s 66 Automall, The Turning Point, Asylum Sports Center, RKE Athletic and Leonard Perry Motors.
