Week 5 (April 29-May 5) Boys Lacrosse Player of the Week nominees (listed in alphabetical order) 

Dale Alto, So., Midfield, Ocean

Also had six goals in three games, including four goals in a 9-8 overtime win over Brick Memorial in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament. Alto scored the game-tying goal with 14 seconds left in regulation and then scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Ocean trailed 8-5 with 6:48 left in the game.

 

Hayden Baranker, Jr., Attack, Toms River North

Baranker scored two goals and dished out seven assists in two games to reach 100 career points. He had two goals and four assists in a win over rival Toms River South and recorded three assists in a 6-5 win over Middletown North in the opening round of the SCT.

  

Canyon Birch, Sr., Attack, Manasquan

Birch scored 25 goals and added six assists in four games to become the first player in New Jersey history to record 500 career points. Birch leads the state with 84 goals and 116 points.

 

Anthony Brett, Jr., Midfield, St. John Vianney

Brett scored 12 goals, recorded seven assists and picked up 36 ground balls in three games to set a new program single-season record with 84 points and counting.

 

Cade Johnson, Jr., Attack, Southern

Johnson recorded a hat trick in three straight games, finishing with nine goals and three assists in total, to help the Rams reach the SCT quarterfinals and extend their winning streak to 10 games. He had three goals and one assist in an 8-4 win over Middletown South and three goals and two assists in Southern’s 9-8 win over St. John Vianney in the SCT round of 16.

 

Sean O’Brien, So., FOGO, Shore 

O’Brien’s face-off excellence continued in wins over Freehold Township and Ocean where he was a combined 41-for-51 on draws to help the Blue Devils reach the SCT quarterfinals and remain undefeated.

 

Logan Peters, Sr., Midfield, Wall 

Peters tallied nine goals and eight assists in two games to lead the Crimson Knights into the SCT quarterfinals. He had four goals and six assists in a win over Holmdel and five goals and two assists in an SCT round of 16 victory over Jackson Memorial.

  

Aidan Purcell, Sr., Goalie, Freehold Township 

Purcell made 24 saves in two games, playing well with 14 saves in a loss to Shore and then backstopping a 7-4 victory over Middletown South in the SCT with 10 saves. The win over Middletown South reversed a 6-5 loss during the regular season.

 

Matt Weber, Sr., Attack, Marlboro

Weber scored four goals in a 6-2 win over Mater Dei Prep to each 100 career points. He also had four goals in a loss to Toms River North to give him 93 career goals.
