With our foray into ice hockey coverage comes another feature very familiar to Shore Sports Network readers: The SSN Player of the Week vote.

There were some great individual performances over the first 10 days of the season and now it’s time to get your vote in for who had the top performance in the conference to choose the Shore Sports Network Ice Hockey Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Wednesday right here on ShoreSportsNetwork.com. Voting will end Tuesday at midnight.

Shore Sports Network Player of the Week nominees for Week 1 (listed in alphabetical order)

 

DJ Clements, Jr., Fwd, Freehold/Raritan/Colts Neck

Clements has posted six points in just two games, including one goal and three assists in a 4-2 win over Manalapan. In that victory, his short-handed goal held up as the game-winning tally. He added a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to Toms River North.

 

Jack Collings, Jr., Goalie, Middletown South

The Eagles are 2-0 on the season with wins over Southern and Marlboro and Collings has been nearly perfect with a .50 goals against average and a .979 save percentage with one shutout. He made 29 saves in a 6-1 win over Southern and stopped all 17 shots in a 3-0 victory over Marlboro.

 

Trevor Coltenback, Sr., Fwd, Central

The Golden Eagles have come out of the gate strong in 2021 and Coltenback has been at the center of their offensive prowess with four goals and eight assists in three games. He had three assists in a season-opening 3-0 win over Howell, tallied one goal and three assists in a 6-3 win over Brick and racked up three goals and two assists in a 10-2 win over Brick Memorial.

 

John Fox, Jr., Goalie, Manalapan

Fox stopped all 31 shots he faced on Jan. 22 to backstop the Braves to a big 3-0 victory over Marlboro and earn his first career shutout. He has a 2.75 goals against average and a .908 save percentage through four games.

 

Gordon Odgen, Sr., Fwd, Red Bank

Ogden has seven goals and four assists in just two games so far this season and has propelled the Bucs to a 2-0 start. He started the season with four goals and two assists in an 8-3 win over Brick Memorial and scored four goals and added two assists in an 8-4 victory over Toms River East/Toms River South.

 

Cole Schneider, Sr., Fwd, Toms River North

Schneider has posted seven goals and two assists in the first two games, including two short-handed goals, to become the first player in program history to reach 200 career points. He had five goals and one assist in a season-opening 7-3 win over Freehold Township and then scored twice and added one assist in a 4-2 win over Freehold/Raritan/Colts Neck.

 

Dan Shallcross, Jr., Goalie, St., John Vianney

The Lancers are off to a 2-0 start, including a big 5-2 win over St. Joseph (Metuchen) and Shallcross has been superb between the pipes. He wasn’t tested much in the season-opener but still stopped all 12 shots he faced in an 8-0 shutout of Old Bridge. SJV needed him to stand tall against St. Joe’s and he certainly did by making 33 saves. He has a .957 save percentage through two games.
