Toms River East senior shortstop Jon Meola, a Virginia recruit, will put his talents on display at one of the nation's premier showcase events starting on Tuesday.

Meola is one of only three players from New Jersey who will be participating in the annual Area Code Games in Long Beach, California, which got underway on Monday. Meola's team, the Yankees, will see its first action on Tuesday. Also on the Yankees are Hopewell Valley catcher Scott Bradley and Old Bridge pitcher Zach Attianese, the latter of whom was the Gatorade Player of the Year in New Jersey this past spring.
