Carlos Tocci had four hits, JP Crawford scored three runs and Willians Astudillo hit his first home run as Lakewood snapped a 7-game losing streak with a 7-5 win over Greensboro on Monday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Mark Leiter, Jr (2-1) earned the win allowing four runs in six innings and Cody Forsythe got the last two outs for his fourth save of the year.

Each team scored twice in the first inning and Astudillo broke a 2-2 tie in the second inning with his first home run of the year and first home run since 2011 in the Venezuelan Summer League.

After Greensboro tied the game on a two-run single in the sixth inning by Juan Avila, the BlueClaws re-claimed the lead in the bottom of the sixth off reliever CJ Robinson. Larry Greene, Jr. started the inning with a double and scored on a fielder’s choice groundout by Astudillo.

Astudillo is 10-27 to start the year and now leads the team with eight RBIs.

The BlueClaws added two runs in the 8th on RBI singles by JP Crawford and Tocci. Julio Reyes started the 9th and got the first out with Forsythe getting Carlos Lopez to ground out to second to end the game with the tying run at second.

Tocci’s four-hit game was the first of his career. He and Crawford each added stolen bases.

Lakewood’s seven-game losing streak came to a close as the BlueClaws won the first game of this three-game series. They had been swept in a four-game set in the first four home games of the year against Hagerstown over the weekend.

The series continues Tuesday night at 6:35 with RHP Tyler Viza (0-2, 6.30) opposing RHP Ryan Newell (0-1, 3.60). The first 2,000 fans receive a BlueClaws Magnet Schedule thanks to Investors Bank and the Asbury Park Press.
