Group IV

At Memorial Athletic Complex, Neptune

Girls

Freehold Twp. 1, Shawnee 0

Nicole Whitley scored the game's lone goal in the 67th minute and the Patriots held on to shut out the Renegades and advance to their first ever NJSIAA Group championship. Freehold Township will play Ridge in Saturday's Group IV final at 5:30 p.m..

Boys

Washington Twp. 2, Freehold Twp. 1

Mike Maltese buried a shot to the upper right of the goal in the 73rd minute to make a game of it Tuesday night, but the Minutemen held off the Patriots to reach the Group IV final for the second straight year. Washington will play West Orange in the group final at 3 p.m. at Kean University.

George Charalabitas converted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute to open the scoring and Ryan Logar scored on a shot from outside the 18-yard box in the 32nd to push the Washington lead to 2-0.

 

Group III Semfinals

At Toms River North

Girls

Colts Neck 2, Toms River South 0

Frankie Tagliaferri buried a shot off a pass from Kayla Lee in the 37th minute and served a front-post pass to set up Amanda Visco's header in the 44th to help lead the Cougars past the Indians and into their second straight Group III final. Colts Neck will face Northern Highlands in the championship game Sunday at 3 p.m. at Kean University, a rematch of last year's final, which Northern Highlands won 4-0.

Boys

Toms River South 1, Ocean 0

Cameron Geerinck took a through ball from Dylan Parks and slid home the lone goal of the game in the 36th minute and the Indians held on to beat the Spartans and advance to the group final for the first time since winning Group IV in 2009. Toms River South will play Mendham in the Group III final at 12:30 p.m Sunday at Kean University.

 

Group II Semifinals

At St. Augustine

Boys

Holmdel 2, Delran 0

Justin McStay scored a goal in each half and and the Hornets beat the Bears to reach the group final for the fourth time in six years. Holmdel will play the winner of Tuesday night's game between Pascack Hills and Garfield in Saturday's Group II final at 10 a.m.

Girls

Holmdel 2, Point Boro 1

Hannah Lee and Gabby Bair scored a goal each and the defending Group II champion Hornets held on to beat the Panthers and advance to the state final for the second straight season. Lee scored 22 minutes into the game to put Holmdel ahead 1-0 and Bair added a goal five minutes into the second half.

Devon Wondolowski scored with nine minutes left in the game to chop the Holmdel lead in half.

Holmdel will play Ramapo in a rematch of last year's Group II final Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Holmdel beat the Raiders 1-0 in last year's final.

 

Group I Semifinals

Girls

Shore 2, Haddon Heights 1

Frankie McDonough and Sophie Hauritz scored five minutes apart in the second half and the Blue Devils rallied to beat Haddon Heights and advance to their fourth straight Group I final appearance against Glen Ridge at 10 a.m. Glen Ridge beat Shore in the 2012 final and the teams played to a draw in 2013.
