SHORE SPORTS NETWORK LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK, 5/6/15

Sasso, a York College recruit, had a fantastic three-game stretch for the surging Patriots to lead them to the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals and within one win of tying for the Class A North division title.

In a 9-2 victory over Howell that forced a three-way tie atop A North, Sasso won 6 of 10 face-offs against Zack Ornstein, also one of the Shore's best face-off men, while scoring twice and picking up a game-high 10 ground balls.

He followed that up with two goals and three assists while going 8-for-11 on draws in an 18-4 victory over Middletown South.

In the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament, the sixth-seeded Patriots topped 11th-seeded Lacey 9-3. Sasso scored five goals, assisted on another and picked up seven ground balls. He also went 12 of 14 on face-offs and scored the game's first three goals in a span of one minute.

For the season, Sasso leads the Patriots with 36 goals and is second in assists (14) and points (50) while winning 71 percent of face-offs.

The Patriots take on third-seeded Christian Brothers Academy on Thursday in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
