SHORE SPORTS NETWORK LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK, 4/29/15
Jarrett Birch, So., Attack, Manasquan
In three games over the past seven days, Birch scored nine goals and also had four assists as the Warriors ran their winning streak to a season-high six games.
Two of those wins were crucial Class B South victories that now have the Warriors in position to lock up the division title. In a 7-4 victory over No. 9 Barnegat Birch had a goal and an assist, but it was during Saturday's game with arch rival Wall where he was a force, scoring a game-high six goals in a 12-6 win that took out Manasquan's last major hurdle in B South.
He finished up his week by scoring twice and adding three assists in a 16-9 victory over East Brunswick. The Warriors are now 10-2 with four regular season games left, and just two remaining before the start of the Shore Conference Tournament. If Manasquan can defeat Donovan Catholic on Saturday and Point Boro next Wednesday it will complete an undefeated run through Class B South.
In the Shore Conference Tournament, Manasquan is almost certainly a lock for the No. 5 seed, which will likely give it a rematch with CBA in the quarterfinals. CBA handed Manasquan its only conference loss, 8-7, back on April 9.
