SHORE SPORTS NETWORK LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK, 4/22/15
Cole Smolokoff, Jr., Attack, Red Bank
It's been an up and down season so far in Little Silver, but one constant for the Bucs has been Smolokoff, who entered the week top 10 in the state in points and now has 63 after a big week.
He scored twice in a 6-5 overtime loss to St. John Vianney, then had a team-high four goals along with one assist in a 10-9 double overtime loss to Red Bank Catholic. The Bucs then took out their frustrations on Middletown North with a 19-3 victory to stop a three-game losing skid. Smolokoff scored a game-high five goals and tied for the game-high with four assists.
Smolokoff now has 34 goals and 29 assists. He scored 36 goals last season, so he is well on his way to setting a career-high. The Bucs are back in action today against No. 8 Ocean in a crucial B North game. Red Bank has five games remaining before the cutoff for the Shore Conference Tournament where teams must have a .500 record, and the Bucs enter today at 4-7.
