Shore Conference Players of the Week

Offense

Dahmiere Willis, Sr., RB, Long Branch

Willis ran for 295 yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries in a 28-14 victory over Red Bank on Thanksgiving, and in the process broke the Shore Conference single-season rushing record with 2,589 yards. Willis eclipsed the mark of 2,544 set by Pinelands’ Matt McLain in 2010 and also finished with the second-highest single-season total in state history.

Defense

James Bedell, Sr., LB, Shore

Bedell made 15 tackles to lead a defense that registered its sixth shutout of the season in a 13-0 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven. Shore has allowed a conference-low 49 points and Bedell is the team’s leading tackler with 129.

Special Teams

Matt Mosquera, Jr., K, Middletown South

Mosquera takes this honor for the second straight week after kicking field goals of 40 and 36 yards in the Eagles’ 20-13 victory over Middletown North. Mosquera now has 13 field goals on the season, which is one off the Shore Conference single-season record set last season by Matawan’s Mike Creamer. Mosquera has one more game left to break the mark as Middletown South will play for the Central Jersey Group IV title against Jackson Memorial.
