Offense (tie)

Javon Hardy, Sr., RB, Central; Larry Redaelli, Sr., RB, Red Bank Catholic

Hardy (pictured below) had one of the top individual games in Central history to help the Golden Eagles solidify their second playoff appearance in three years. He exploded for a career-high 277 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 23 carries in a 41-26 win over Monsignor Donovan. He also had an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown to give him a single-game school record six touchdowns in the win. Hardy now has 721 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on only 92 carries (7.8 ypc) this season.

Redaelli continued his huge season with 232 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 19 carries in a 41-13 win over Middletown South. He now has 1,156 yards and a Shore Conference-leading 22 touchdowns on an average of 11.2 yards per carry. (Photo by Bill Normile)

Defense

Datrell Reed, Jr., DL, Lakewood

Reed had an interception return that led to a touchdown and played an outstanding game up front as Lakewood held Barnegat to 20 yards rushing and stunned the previously unbeaten Bengals 21-14 to clinch consecutive state playoff berths for the first time in program history.

Special teams

(tie) Tyler Hyman, Sr., LB/DB, St. John Vianney; Mike Halawani, Sr., DE/OLB, Ocean

Hyman blocked an extra point in overtime that won the game in a 28-27 victory over Holmdel. He also had an 80-yard touchdown catch in the win.

Halawani had a huge blocked field goal in a 7-6 win over Wall. (Scroll down for B North Defensive Player of the Week).

Honorable mention

Amani Richardson, Sr., RB/DB, Manchester

Richardson returned a blocked field goal 88 yards for a touchdown in a 40-6 win over Pinelands. He also ran for 180 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.

Dan Debner, Jr., PR, Manalapan

Debner had a 50-yard punt return for a touchdown in a 42-7 win over Toms River North for his third special teams score of the year and the sixth by the Braves.

Anthony Starego, Sr., K, Brick

Starego hit a 31-yard field goal and went 2-for-2 on extra points, all of which proved to be crucial in a big 25-24 win over Lacey.

Jake Monteiro, Jr., K, Shore

Monteiro continued a great season with a school-record eight touchbacks in a 59-6 win over Keansburg. He now has 23 touchbacks on 39 kickoffs this season. He also is 26-for-26 on extra points and 6-for-6 on field goal attempts.

Divisional Players of the Week

Class A North

Offense

Chad Freshnock, So., RB, Middletown North 

Freshnock rolled up a career-high 263 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 40 carries in a 51-33 win over Howell to give the Lions their second win in three games and put them in the mix for a state playoff berth. He now has 860 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns for the season.

Defense

Nick Volpe, Sr., LB/DE, Colts Neck; Josh Zemlock, Jr., LB, Marlboro 

Volpe had 9 tackles, 2 sacks and a pass break-up in a 35-7 win over Freehold Township to help the Cougars bounce back from their first loss.

Zemlock had a 15-yard fumble return for a touchdown and helped lead the defense in a 14-7 win over Perth Amboy for the Mustangs' first victory.

Class A Central

Offense

Charlie Volker, Jr., RB, Rumson-FH

Volker racked up his third straight game of 240-plus rushing yards with 252 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 42-6 win over Monmouth. He now has 1,382 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns this season.

Defense

 (tie) Ryan Schoer, Sr., LB, Red Bank Catholic; Mike Cordova, Jr., DB, Red Bank Catholic 

Schoer had 15 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss and 3 quarterback pressures, and Cordova had two interceptions and three passes defensed in a 41-13 win over Middletown South.

Class A South

Offense

Ray Fattaruso, Jr., RB, Brick; Tymere Berry, Jr., QB, Toms River South 

Fattaruso ran for 136 yards on 29 carries and ran for the game-winning two-point conversion with 28 seconds left in the game after a touchdown catch by Jazir Taylor in a 25-24 win over Lacey that set up a winner-take-all game this week with Jackson Memorial for the Class A South title.

Berry ran for 132 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries and also threw for 75 yards and a touchdown in a 29-14 win over Brick Memorial.

Defense

Ken Bradley, Sr., LB, Jackson Memorial; Zachary Tetro, Jr., LB, Jackson Memorial

Bradley had 9 tackles and Tetro had a pair of interceptions as the Jaguars held Southern to negative yards rushing in a 28-6 victory that set up a winner-take-all game with Brick for the Class A South title on Friday.

Class B North

Offense

Josh Dixon, Jr., RB, Freehold

Dixon ran for 129 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries to give the Colonials their first win of the season, 37-26, over Red Bank Regional.

Defense

Mike Halawani, Sr., DE/OLB, Ocean

Halawani had 10 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss and a crucial blocked field goal in a 7-6 win over Wall that clinched no worse than a tie for the Class B North title for the Spartans.

Class B Central

Offense

Joe Wegrzyniak, Jr., RB, Point Beach

Wegrzyniak continued a great season and went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark with a career-high 279 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 34-6 win over Keyport.

Defense

Dennis Vaccaro, Sr., DE

Vaccaro had a sack for a 10-yard loss and helped the Blue Devils stifle Keansburg in a 59-6 victory.

Class B South

Offense

John Veneziano, Sr., QB, Jackson Liberty

Veneziano went 12-for-19 for a career-high 262 yards and a touchdown in a 30-20 win over Point Boro.

Defense

Manny Bowen, Jr., LB, Barnegat

Bowen had 9 tackles, including 4 tackles for a loss, and an interception in a 21-14 loss to Lakewood. He also had 6 catches for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss.
