Class A South
No. 6 Toms River North 2, Brick Memorial 0
Senior left-hander Brandon Valles pitched a three-hit shutout and started the game-winning rally in the bottom of the sixth with a leadoff single to spark the Mariners to a win over the Mustangs.
Valles led off the bottom of the sixth with a single and moved to third on an errant pickoff throw by Brick Memorial starter Cole Manfro. Senior Sean Mindas then plated the game's first run with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
Senior Jack Tava tacked on an insurance run by blasting a two-out solo home run to leftfield.

Lacey 3, Barnegat 1
Senior right-handers Jacob Bowles went toe-to-toe on the mound and at the plate and Bowles and the Lions emerged victorious in a classic pitchers' duel.
Bowles threw a six-inning no-hitter in his first start of the season and immediately surrendered a single on the first pitch of the game to Barnegat junior shortstop Bryan Snowden.
Danbrowney then followed with an RBI double to put Lacey in a 1-0 hole, but Bowles came back with a single to start bottom of the inning before scoring on a wild pitch following a single by senior Matt Kaliske that pushed him to third base.
An error on an attempted double-play turn scored two more Lacey runs in the bottom of the first and Danbrowney notched a strikeout to end the long first inning. That strikeout was noteworthy because it was the first of 11 consecutive strikeouts by the Bengals right-hander - a streak that ended with a walk to No. 9 hitter Zack Mohr with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Bowles struck out eight over the first three innings before Barnegat put runners in scoring position in each of the final four. Snowden and Danbrowney each singled with one out in the top of the seventh and moved up a base on a wild pitch to put the tying runs in scoring position, but Bowles got a strikeout, then a flyout on would have been his last batter, regardless of the outcome, due to reaching the 110-pitch limit.
