Shore Conference, NJ Ice Hockey Three Stars for Thursday, Feb. 11
In an homage to a National Hockey League tradition dating back to the 1936-1937 season, Shore Sports Network will be selecting three standouts from each day of Shore Conference ice hockey. The Three Stars of the Day will be posted each morning for the previous day's games.
First Star
DJ Freed, So., Fwd/Def., Toms River North
Toms River North roared back to defeat rival Toms River East, 4-3, and it was Freed's goal with just 20 seconds left in the game that lifted the Mariners to the scintillating victory and improved their record to 4-0. Freed and Justin Ervelli, who tied the game with 49 seconds left, each had two goals.
Second Star
Brett Pritchard, Jr., Fwd., Rumson-Fair Haven
Pritchard scored twice, including a tremendous short-handed goal in the first period, to help fourth-ranked Rumson defeat No. 3 Middletown South, 5-3. It was Rumson's second win over a state top-20 team this week after they clipped Westfield, 3-2, on Monday.
Third Star
Pat Olenski, Jr., Fwd., Ocean
The Spartans returned to action after a two-week pause due to COVID-19 exposure and picked up their first win of the season in their second game by defeating Edison, 5-2. Olenski finished with two goals and one assist and his goal in the second period stood up as the game-winner.
