Senior Garrett Drew skied a sacrifice fly to centerfield to chase home the winning run in the bottom of the sixth and senior Dan Keenan closed out a a complete-game, 12-strikeout gem in the seventh to help the Lions salvage a series split with the Griffins - winners of five straight heading into Wednesday.
Donovan Catholic tied the game in the top of the inning when senior centerfielder Sam Gates ripped a double down the right field line and advanced on two wild pitches. The second of the wild pitches allowed him to score and came on a 0-2 pitch with two out.
Senior Carl Barth plated the first run of the game for Jackson Liberty with an RBI fielder's choice in the third, set up by an error to open the rally. Donovan Catholic committed an error leading off both the third and the sixth, leading to unearned runs for both of its pitchers - sophomore Brian Padilla and senior Bob Nosti.
