Opening Round

(8) Rumson-Fair Haven 3, (25) Brick 2

Senior Thomas Elgrim homered for the second straight day and junior Charlie Jones pitched a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts and three walks to lead the Bulldogs to a win over the Green Dragons. Rumson will host No. 9 Central in the SCT round of 16 Sunday morning.

Senior Ryan Duffy was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored on a two-run single by senior Rob Blair in the top of the sixth that cut Rumson's lead to 3-2. Senior Matt Kunzman pitched 5 1/3 innings in picking up the loss.

(12) Colts Neck 6, (21) Matawan 5

Junior Brad Salamone plated the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh and the Cougars fought off a comeback effort by the Huskies to win in walk-off fashion. Colts Neck advances to Sunday's round of 16 to take on No. 5 Middletown South on the road.

(6) Wall 14, (27) Keyport 0 (5 Innings)

Senior Bobby Leete fired a five-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks and the the Crimson Knights cruised to a win over the Red Raiders. Leete got the job done on 79 pitches.

Sophomore Gabe Cavazzoni was 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBI, senior Max Kaplan was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, and Max Harrell (one RBI), Christian Cosenza (one run, two RBI) and Matt Vita (two runs, one RBI) all finished 2-for-3.

Ryan Legere and James Petrides each added a double and an RBI for Wall and Andrew Fischer was 1-for-1 with a pair of walks and three runs in the win. Wall will host No. 22 Neptune Sunday in the round of 16.

(7) Freehold Twp. 7, (26) Point Beach 3

Senior Chris Corchado hit a bases-clearing, three-run double as part of a five-run fourth inning for Freehold Township that proved to be the difference in a Patriots win over the Garnet Gulls. Freehold Township will host No. 23 Manchester Sunday at 11 a.m. in the round of 16.

(9) Central 10, (24) Monmouth 0 (5 Innings)

Junior Cam Leiter struck out 12 in a five-inning shutout and the Golden Eagles handled the Falcons to advance to Sunday's round of 16 at Rumson-Fair Haven.

Senior Trevor Coltenback went 3-for-3 with a double and junior Billy Sottilaire was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI to key the offense. Connor Shea also went 1-for-2 with two RBI while Shane Sajewicz (1-for-3) and Anthony Musso (1-for-2) each added an RBI in the win.

(22) Neptune 1, (11) Marlboro 0

Senior Brian Young pitched a four-hit shutout with six strikeouts and also went 2-for-3 with a double to carry the Scarlet Fliers past the Mustangs and into Sunday's round of 16 against No. 6 Wall.

Young finished the game just ahead of the pitch limit with 111 pitches and worked around five walks.

Marlboro senior Mark Capell nearly matched Young, throwing a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts and two walks in a losing effort.

(13) Toms River North 2, (20) Barnegat 1

Sophomore Branden Lavallee went the distance on the mound to outduel Barnegat ace Nick Danbrowney and the Mariners edged the Bengals to advance to Sunday's round of 16 at No. 4 Middletown North.

(14) Howell 16, (19) Lacey 8

Seniors Vin Impresa and Chris Ellison both homered and the Rebels exploded for 11 runs in the sixth inning to rally past the Lions and into a round-of-16 game at No. 3 Red Bank Catholic on Sunday.

Impresa finished 4-for-5 with a double, homer and four RBI and Ellison was 2-for-4 with a two-run blast. Russell Halvorsen was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs and an RBI for Howell and Daniel Furlong went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Senior Matt Kaliske hit his second home run for as many days and finished 2-for-3 with three RBI. Brandon DeAngelo was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI and Donnie Kirk, Noah Quinn (two RBI) and Carson Gudzak (one RBI) each went 2-for-4 with a run scored for Lacey.

(18) Ranney 11, (15) Jackson Liberty 0 (6 Innings)

Sophomore Nick Coniglio pitched a six-inning shutout and the Panthers hammered the Lions to pick up the first Shore Conference Tournament win in program history. Ranney will travel to play No. 2 Manalapan for Sunday's round of 16.

Coniglio allowed four hits and a walk while striking out eight. Sophomore A.J. Gracia was 3-for-4 with three RBI, junior Charlie Chropuvka tripled and both Brett Wehringer and Diego Tavares picked up an RBI single each.

(16) Ocean 10, (17) St. John Vianney 4

Junior Jack Zabarsky drove in four runs and sophomore Shane Garrett pitched four strong innings of relief to earn the win as the Spartans swung their way past the Lancers and into the SCT round of 16 Sunday against top-seeded Jackson Memorial.

(23) Manchester 13 (10) Donovan Catholic 1

Juniors Mike Damato and Logan Duffy each homered and the Hawks poured it on late to wipe out the Griffins and advance to the SCT Round of 16 Sunday at No. 7 Freehold Township.

Damato was 2-for-3 with three RBI and Duffy with 1-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Junior Justin Renzi (2-for-4, three runs, two RBI) and junior Blake Warren (2-for-3, two RBI) also had two hits and two RBI apiece and Sean McAllister was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI for Manchester.

Junior Joe Pati spun a three-hit gem on the mound, allowing one unearned run with three walks and eight strikeouts on 112 pitches.
