Every week this season, Shore Conference football fans will have their chance to vote for the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Jersey/Shore Sports Network Football Player of the Week on our website.

The Week 2 Player of the Week winner is Toms River North sophomore quarterback Jake Kazanowsky, who tossed three touchdown passes to help the Mariners to a 48-0 American Division victory over Howell.

Kazanowsky completed 14 of 19 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Dominick Jacob on a 9-yard scoring pass, finding Aaron Craig for a 67-yard touchdown and tossing a 15-yard touchdown strike to Will Marsh. Kazanowsky's touchdown pass to Jacob gave Toms River North a 6-0 lead in the first quarter before the Mariners exploded for 28 points in the second quarter to take a 34-0 halftime lead.

Toms River North was 1-9 last season, taking a drastic dip after winning the NJSIAA South Jersey Group V championship in 2015 and reaching the South Jersey Group V final in 2016. The Mariners have already eclipsed last season's win total after victories over Manalapan and Howell and are pushing forward toward an American Division title.

The Mariners, who are currently ranked No. 5 in the Shore Sports Network Top 10, will host Central (0-3) on Saturday at noon.

Toms River North fans made their presence felt as Kazanowsky secured 18.74 percent of the votes to win over Jackson Memorial's Collin McCarthy, Red Bank Catholic's Steve Lubishcer and Barnegat's Sean Morris.
