2022 Shore Conference Football Division Alignment

The Shore Conference has released its division alignment for the 2022 season and there are some significant changes to the seven divisions.

The first major change is going from eight divisions down to seven. The 2021 season had eight divisions with either five or six teams. The National Division has been eliminated and the new divisions each have six teams in them. Mater Dei Prep, which shuttered its varsity program before this season, is not aligned in any division.

In the American Division, Red Bank Catholic, Middletown South, and Manalapan join the fold and will compete with Donovan Catholic, Rumson-Fair Haven, and Wall. Toms River North moves from the American Division to the Colonial Division and Colts Neck moves from the American to the Constitution.

Some traditional rivals have also been placed in the same division, including RBC and Rumson in the American Division, Central Regional, Southern Regional, Lacey, and Toms River North in the Colonial Division, five of the six Freehold Regional schools in the Consitution Division, Brick and Brick Memorial in the Freedom Division, and Manasquan and Point Boro in the Independence Division.

The 2022 schedule of key dates was also released. There will be no Shore Conference postseason 'pods' as there were these past two seasons. The Regular season runs from Week 1 on Sept. 2 through Week 8 on Oct. 21. The first round of the playoffs is Oct. 28, the sectional finals are Nov. 11, the state semifinals are Nov. 18 and the first-ever NJSIAA public school state finals will be the weekend of Dec. 2.
