Spartans senior Aidan Tisony got to the ball first and slid it over to Gargulinski, who was charging from the back. Gargulinski took one touch and calmly ripped a shot that navigated through a host of defenders and past lunging Colts Neck goalkeeper Joe Portello just as the clock struck all zeros.

Ocean goalkeeper Paco Costello made five saves to earn the shutout and the Spartans dodged two bullets when two potential Colts Neck goals were disallowed due to offsides calls - one in the 33rd minute and another in the 57th.

Portella made a leaping save on a clean look by Tisony in the 71st to preserve the 0-0 deadlock for the time being and Colts Neck senior striker David Tuschmann - a 25-goal scorer a year ago - go his best look of the game in the 73rd, when he one-timed a cross from freshman Kyle Moore just over the crossbar.
